PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

It doesn't matter... even if they dont find an answer to our J-35 purchase, they are still free to buy as many Rafael as they want, make new Tejas (even if rate of production is slower) and replaced existing pesa radar in their 200+ SU-30MKI with their indigenously developed AESA. So what is our response to an IAF that have 300+ AESA fighter jets ? 40 J-35, 20 J-10CE, and 23 JF-17B3 ?

You make the assumption that the indian inventory as you suggest will turn up immediately and Pakistan will remain dormant with the list you have indicated.

There comes a point, where even the value of AESA radars decreases when faced with a Stealth platform! Just look at the results of missions between F-22 Raptors and Eurojets and teen series jets with AESA radars in the US.

So you think by the time India has 200+ AESA SU-30s we will stand still? They have stated only 80 will be upgraded and that will take 10 years, so you are comparing 2026 PAF with 2036 IAF?

We two are looking at it from different angles. So lets just leave it here.

Because you believe that PAF can buy 40 J-35 as well as more J-10C and JF17B3. Which isnt true. If it was, we would have bought more J-10C after 2022 and more JFB3 after 2024.

India already have 230+ SU-30MKI, and search Virupaksha aesa. SU-30MKI are very potent aircrats, their only issue was lack of capable aesa radars. What do you think how many years will it take India to manufacture 230 aesa radars ? Its ground evaluation have been done start of this year and in-air evaluation will also happens this year. Give it 2 years of testing and 2 years of production. 2030-31 you have 230 AESA capable SU-30MKI.

If it is not an issue for you, then that's alright. I will end it here.

What do you mean? No country could give you FULL TOT for their 5th gen jet to other country but partial TOT may be possible (Source code for integration of local weapons/missiles) etc etc
They can if the news about pakistani 300 software engineer were working on kaan were true it becomes joint venture

Relationship b/w Turkey and Pakistan is very strange. The pilot of the presidential plane during President Turgut Ozal's time was a Pak folk! How do I know? I met him when I was in Ankara for his father and an uncle of mine were colleagues at the Pak military....

only in avionics development but they are far far ahead in terms of airframe/composite materials /RAM (radar absorbing material) and engine development fields from us

.... Pakistan does not need J-35 right now, it needs to induct more J-10s and JF-17 Block 3s. J-35 will be an operationally expensive aircraft beside its capex.
In my opinion, Pakistan has a role for all three aircraft types and should acquire them in sufficient numbers.
  • JF-17 Thunder for western air defence against Superpower Afghanistan.
  • J-10C to strengthen conventional deterrence against India.
  • J-35 to provide a credible deterrent against any potential future Israeli military contingency.
Pakistan is not going to wait for a crisis to emerge before thinking about how best to strengthen its deterrence and air defence capabilities. In my view, those decisions need to be made well in advance.

This is just for fun.
Of course its not coming before 2035. Stealth fighters are pivots in NATO style doctrine, which is either out of date or too early. PAF conventional budget will be diverted, its long range strike allocation will go to Rocket Force, its close air support element to PAF's drone force. The only mission left for fighter jets will be to keep IAF fighters (that are in the air) at arms reach. The J-10 is more than enough for that mission for the next 15 years, we only get more J-10s at some point.

Pakistan dosent have us and israeli soldiers in Pakistan do we?
Every person touching US equipment in Pakistan is vetted by the embassy and by inference Pentagon.
Including electronic access keycards.

Because their concern is non approved personnel accessing US equipment.

China has its own access control concerns regarding the J-10.

If the UaE can contractually guarantee that no access to US or Israelis is provided (could be putting them on a base where they are not allowed in) then it may satisfy the condition.

Keep in mind the issue isn’t US or Israeli boots on the ground - its Emiratis themselves who could just talk from one place to another.

The question isn’t if China will or wont see the J-35 - they took models to foreign airshows for a reason.

It’s their risk appetite for it -
As an e.g.
many years ago a Pakistani training another Ikhwan was telling them something about US procedures and why they wont work -

The Ikhwan thanked the Pakistani and WITHIN the same day went to the US trainer and told them “Look what the Pakistanis say about you”

Also, the first 100 J-10s were not the J-10s Pakistan wanted to see, the first 250 Chinese Flankers were not the pinacle of Flankers China wanted to have, even the first 100 or J-20s were not the J-20 China aimed for. So do not expect Pakistan to get any J-35s until China has inducted 500.

Sometimes, watching a lot of people talking nonsense with a straight face can actually be quite entertaining. Despite their complete lack of basic military and political common sense, they spoke with great confidence and assertiveness, refusing to allow anyone to question their views.

BTW.
The L-15 trainer aircraft sold by China to the UAE are special models intended for airshows, not standard trainers or combat aircraft. These aircraft have undergone special modifications to suit airshow purposes. If these aircraft were to be used for combat, they would require further modifications. Reports indicate that the UAE plans to purchase an additional 36 L-15 trainer aircraft, but this plan has not yet been implemented.
It seems you are implying by using the example of the L-15 that the entirety of what has been provided by China to UAE and proxy forces such as UAVs, weapons for such systems, anti UAV systems, artillery and so on are downgraded systems or “airshow” grade?

Interesting that the UaE continues to drive further Chinese technologies and China would promote the aircraft at multiple airshows for clients YET not agree to provide the aircraft even if contractual obligations are met

But the day we buy 40 J-35, India will also acquire a 5th Gen fighter
Im curious which 5th Gen fighter India will acquire and how long it will take to aquire.

The way I see it, they have no real options, the SU57/75 Russia cant produce in numbers and will take over a decade, the F35 is unlikely too many US booby traps come with that, Indias own indigenous program will take as much as time as Pak procuring a 6th Gen fighter.
