Great 👍 post … and still you and some claim the PAF will get its first operational J-31s in 2025? At a date only three years after maiden flight and before the PLA gets its first own aircraft?

Sometimes I think you only agree to this nonsense since it contradicts my predictions!

I will be honest Deino, I am unsure anyone's predictions can be accurate.

J-10 was very sudden, as we all admitted to a few weeks back, no one knows how far advanced J-31 really s. We see prototypes and test flights PLAAF want us to see.

No surprise of PAF get J-31 before PLAN get J-35, considering how more complex carrier aviation is.

With what I have read on here and in other places, and taking into account ACM statement, and the fact PAF now reguarly have images of J-31 type aircraft in their publicity, I am starting to think we may be beyond prototype sage and they are waiting for production aircraft....

According to the analysis of many professional military fans on Chinese social media, the internal price of J35 is about 90-100 million dollars. You can compare the price difference between it and the J10C and make some general judgments.

Aside from price, my point was that the stage and development of Chinese purchases by Pak have (historically) been very hard to accurately judge

The ACM statement was that ‘the foundation had been laid’ for this aircraft to join the PAF. When you lay the ‘foundation’ of anything, you know that it’s completion is some time away not imminent. As I have said before Pakistan does not need 5th Gen capability urgently and does not have the cash for luxuries well before they are needed. In my view, They will come, but all in good time.

Again, I agree that we don’t know everything but we know the maiden flight of the J-35 in October 2021 and the most likely one of the J-31 in September 2023. To think there was one much earlier is more a unfounded dream than a realistic possibility and to think - even using the October 2023 date - any stealth fighter could be ready for service after only three years of testing (the J-20‘s test phase was already exceptionally short with still twice the time) is beyond any reasonable expectation.

Again in summary, the chance for service entry in Pakistan for 2025 is just ZERO

I agree with Deino. there is some possibility of PAF signing J35 procurement contract with SAC in 2025 but delivery of J35 in 2025 is not possible.

2-4 units of J35 to PAF for experiential activities cannot be considered as official delivery.
While I think it is possible to sign a J35 procurement contract in 2025, it is only possible, and, I don't think it is very likely.

That $90-100 million number for J-35 doesn't add up. F35A costs around $82 mn. I refuse to believe China with it's manufacturing and labor cost advantages would be putting together an arguably inferior platform at same or even more expensive of a cost in actual dollar terms than their american counterparts.

All components going into J-35 are local, there's no licensing or import expenses associated with it. Even with markup and low production numbers, the export value of an J-35 should not exceed $80 mn max, I'd reckon it's in the $70-$75 mn region.
