Seems so ... J-35 = catapult-capapble naval variant & J-35A = landbased AF-variant (formerly rumoured to be J-31)

Shouldn't it be:
J-35 - PLAN only
J-35A - PLAAF only
J-31 - Exports only

Emphasis on J-35A and J-31 being totally different/separate platforms?

What's the difference between Z-10 and WZ-10, assuming they both helicopters?

The standard designation for the Z-10 is “直10武装直升机 Zhi 10 Armed Helicopter” and its official code is “Z-10” without the “W” in front of it. The Z-10 series are all professional armed helicopters, there are no other utility or transport versions. A few military fans use “WZ-10” to describe it, which is the wrong code.


WZ-10 stands for “无侦 10”. The “无侦” here is the Chinese abbreviation for “无人侦察机”, and “WZ” is the Hanyu Pinyin abbreviation for “无侦”. PLA uses the prefix “WZ” for all Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft in service.


The hanyu pinyin abbreviation for both “无侦(unmanned reconnaissance aircraft)” and “武直 (armed helicopter)” is “WZ”. However, PLA has never used “WZ” for armed helicopters; it is only used for unmanned reconnaissance aircraft.
