PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Cockpit layout of J-35A stealth aircraft during Zhuhai Air Show 2024. The cockpit emerges with single panel MFD presenting manifolds more situational awareness than 4th generation jets. Pakistan is, soon, set to receive the J-35A stealth aircraft to boost its air power.

What are the chances of the WS19/21 being used to upgrade the PAF's JF-17s as part of an MLU? And maybe even the mythical JF-17X if that's still going ahead? Would make sense to harmonise on a single engine type supply chain, assuming the J-35A is eventually adopted by the PAF.

The engines on the current jf17 are only rated for half the life of the airframe, so they do need to be re-engined with new engines. Logically ws19 makes the most sense from a cost control perspective given simplified logistics and support infrastructure required to support one engine type across the Jf17, and jf35a fleet.

Timing and availability of the ws19 relationship is the most difficult issues to pull off plan, let’s see what happens.

Nice - I was wondering when we will get to see the cockpit layout. Looks modern - hopefully there are some YouTube videos of it !

You this translation ............
Is that how they are all referred to in the English context?
Chinese nicknames calls all its fighters the "龙(Dragon)" series.

J-20 series, Chinese nicknames for “威龙”. Hanyu Pinyin: Wei Long
“威,” which means mighty power and awe-inspiring aura.
J-16 series, Chinese nicknames for “潜龙”. Hanyu Pinyin: Qian Long
“潜”, in its original meaning, means to be submerged in water and to be active underwater. For example, the Chinese word for submarine is “潜艇”.
J-10 series, Chinese nicknames for “猛龙”. Hanyu Pinyin: Meng Long
“猛”. Its original meaning is tough and fierce.
J-35 series, Chinese nicknames are currently unavailable.

These Chinese nicknames have many meanings, but my English is not good enough to explain them clearly. Wikipedia is a direct translation and they are not accurate.

So, to avoid misunderstanding, we'd better call them by their direct code.
I believe the translations are fairly accurate. Thanks for your effort of translating them.

It’s not surprising at all…u will see a ton of them acting like that whatever their personal situation(which statistically speaking…is probably not good on average). The reason for this is the constant barrage of propaganda that is thrown at the masses…every day…
…idk if u saw the other thread that was running about some Indian guy using Chinese high speed railway network’s pictures as Indian HSR.

…their film industry is constantly churning out movies where India is superior and always prevails over its enemies…some Indians even started using scenes from a movie as proof of Indian military prevailing over China(in that recent skirmish).
…India ranks at the top for the most misinformation and fake news that is spread/consumed by the average public.

These are just some of the recent examples that come to mind. If u could understand Hindi…and ever saw their “news programs” about something Pakistan or China related(especially a defense related topic)…u would see how blindly they believe their lies about Indian superiority.
I would never say things like China is rich and we can buy aircrafts like chocolate...
We have so many places to catch up, be it number wise or quality wise...they are amazing people indeed, no wonder they are dreaming of winning a two front war.

There's a program going on dubbed the "JF-17 PFX" it could potentially see the WS-19 engine.

Though I think there's a backlog for Russian engines that needs to be used up before any switch to Chinese origin engines for the Block 1-3

What will Pakistan call its J-35A?

Historically, PAF has replaced the J to F. For example, J-6, J-7 etc became F-6, F-7 as the j in Chinese stands for fighter. Following this trend, J-35A should ideally become F-35A - the name of the premium US stealth fighter.

Will Pakistan stick to J-35A as well so as not to cause confusion?
