LOMAD was revealed in 2023. It has been in developmnet much longer, I remember reading about technical proposals back in the 2000's.

FAAZ SL designed for AD units covering Armoured and mechanised formations. Its essentially a successor of ANZA ADS...which is Anza MANPAS depoloyed on M113 APC.

LOMAD is essentially PA AD trying to get a combo ABM/anto aircraft capability.

This is a specific technical term. It differs completely from our general understanding.

In 2021, the PLA publicly announced that establishing an equipment system "centered on third-generation equipment, with fourth-generation equipment serving as the backbone" constitutes one of the core objectives of its military modernization efforts.

Internally—within the PLA and China's defense industry (including the specialized academic institutions affiliated with both the military and the defense sector)—a distinct, independent system for classifying weapon generations has long been in use. This internal classification system does not align with the terminology used by official Chinese media (specifically political and propaganda outlets), the general Chinese public, or the international community. (It is worth noting, in particular, that even military spokespersons will often employ external analytical frameworks—rather than this internal classification system—when referring to specific assets.)

Under this internal classification system, the J-20 and J-35 are still designated as "fourth-generation fighter jets," whereas the J-10C and J-16 are classified as "third-generation fighter jets."

Other assets explicitly defined as "fourth-generation weapons" within this internal framework include: the "ZTZ-100"—a fourth-generation Main Battle Tank; and the "DF-41"—a fourth-generation land-based strategic missile.

Very little information regarding this internal classification system is released to the public; consequently, we do not possess a complete list of all assets explicitly designated as "fourth-generation weapons." Much of what circulates consists merely of speculation by media outlets or netizens, none of which has been explicitly corroborated by the internal classification system itself.

I did some research, and it seems HQ9 is also a 4th-gen system, as is S400, but S500 is a 5th-gen ADS, as is HQ19. HQ16FE is also a 4th-gen system. Thanks for the details.

HQ-17AE Export-type accompanying field air defense missile system

The corresponding PLA-specific version HQ-17A has been deployed extensively within the PLA.

The system also has a supporting and complementary system: the HQ-17AE fire support vehicle.
