PAF SAM based Air Defense System - News, Discussion & Updates

Airforce monthly

Article is written by a clown who said PAF shot down its own JFT and not Rafale
Agreed. Note, for every Pakistani site that was hit, he writes ‘destroyed’ which given that we know limited nature of damage from multiple reliable sources is a gross exaggeration. Other parts of this write up have a similar dubious flavour. Unsure if that’s deliberate or just careless.

And people here after getting excited over some successes in a couple skirmishes think we have geniuses in control...

Pakistan - for the most part - still does not have a competent ecosystem that produces intelligent thinkers at NATO-level. A lot of boomer lazy ignorance which is an extension of our society.

Few successes should not build unrealistic expectations, there's a never ending list of reforms needed among the strategic officer culture.
Unfortunately - we were still celebrating swift retort this year on this forum as if some Operation Moked.

I honestly wouldn't hold my breath when it comes to Bohlari. There was some real gross negligence done over there by our guys.

And I agree with @MastanKhan we should have taken down more aircraft on the 7th. We held back and that was to our detriment.

Regardless we need to seriously beef up our AD especially around airbases. Replace SPADA-2000s as point defence systems with other systems like Turkish made SIPERS or go for Chinese systems.

We also need a counter to UCAS to especially mobile systems. Mil should look into getting VAMPRE (Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment). It's a cost effective system and can be retrofitted on a Hilux

Hi,

Spada was a bad decision right from day one. The technology at the time of procurement was over a decade old--.

Was it a part of a larger deal where if you bought spada we will get some other items from Italy---.

Aspide 2000 is good missile ? What is wrong with it ? Is spada 2000 as shorad that bad ?

If we allow other universities to work on defense systems in field of Ai, cybersecurity, engineering. We can have new systems and ideas. Apparently nust gik and 1 or 2 others are given green lit. This is what stopping us.

Trust me I have seen very genius minds in my own institution where I teach CS subjects. We have ideas but not the path and not everyone wants to leave pakistan, many want to work here.

Even my deans brother is working on autononous ai robot for cqc combat. As personal project.

Another thing why not pl15 as sam ?

We also need to look into the fact how US got the wind of Pakistani missile program. In the past, we consistently develop and tested new ballistic missile after every few years without US/India getting any clue? What changed? May be we stretched our supply line too thin or we became careless. Pakistan just simply can't afford to be left behind specially hypersonic missiles. We can import supersonic cruise missiles like C-302 or YJ-12 etc. from China but for hypersonic we need homegrown solution.

More likely the Americans always knew, but it was only when the programme crossed a certain range threshold that they started to actually "care".

I had to sign up on the new forum to ask details about this one thing stuck in my head since May 8th.

In the morning, I was in the area when a Harpy/Harop drone struck HQ-16 battery in Walton, Lahore. 4 of our guys were injured, one later embraced shahadat.

My question is, how did we let a slow low-flying noisy drone get so close and then dive in and hit one of our systems? Civilians around detected it because of its sound and filmed it but somehow our lt AD guys couldn't see it coming?

Our Oerlikon guns were in the same area and were seen firing later in the day but what happened in the early morning hours?

There's something strange about you, I can't quite put my finger on it

Its not the missile but rather the entire system like radars and such. It's old technology

Pakistan was working on FAAZ (SD-10A) for SAM also? Upgrading it's seeker and range or acquiring a Turkish option and locally mass producing like EU's NASAM project should be the way forward.

Mass deployment on Eastern and Western borders for LOMAD is critical and a local, cost effective system is needed. Let HQ-9 and HQ-19 take care of bigger threats.

Next wars will be high intensity, short duration. Expect hundreds of drones, cruise and ballistic missiles in every attack. Tank times are gone.

Proof for this?
It's still not confirmed if a battery was struck or a support vehicle. I remember there was a debate over this and most people leaned towards it being a support vehicle which hit the back doors.

@farooqbhai Could confirm.

There's a huge stock of AIM-9 sidewinders is available with F-7s and Mirages are going out of service(kept in storage)

A rapid deployed system for installation defense can developed with Sweden's giraffe radar.

Keep in mind these relative small missiles will be able to get up to speed very quickly to intercept incoming threats

Fairly sure thats a Jeet larping as a Lahori. Anyhow it was a support vehicle (not part of HQ16) that was struck.
