PAF SAM based Air Defense System - News, Discussion & Updates

The news of shahadat probably didn't make it to mainstream media. Havaldar Muhammad Naveed (133 LT AD Regt) was martyred after sustaining head injuries in the same drone attack.

May be

Anyways a support vehicle was damaged and not HQ9 itself

HQ-16 you mean. Well, that's a relief. But my question was more about how was it missed? If the reasons have been discussed already, I'd appreciate if someone can divert me to that thread.

I think it was HQ9 support vehicle. HQ9 or any other air defense system were never hit

don't mind me questioning this but LOMADS and FAAZ-SL are still being worked on right? I really us to have our own home grown SAM systems.
Dunno about the lomads but faaz is in development it be another 3-4 years before its initial variant comes online
the only quick domestic stop gap measure that comes to my mind is that they make some Modification of Anza since we have thousands of those.

Hopefully it actually happens and is not vapaur ware like the domestic howitzer project.

Afaik Sargodha was mix of Scalp and Brahmos, the ones that managed to hit there was brahmos while atleast 2 scalp were intercepted enroute to Sargodha.
Also there was atleast 1 Rampage downed west of Lahore, not sure what its intended target was.
There was 1 hit by drone at Sargodha. It was in air for more than 1.5 hour.

The injuries and loss of life sustained in the drone attack in Lahore was on an Orlikon battery and not hq 9.
After which the AD units realised that these drones are anti-radiation and hence the AD "adjusted"their strategy accordingly

We had a domestic howitzer project?

Yes from HIT, it would have been good to replace our old Chinese and British ww2 era artillery the FC is still using, ballistic computers plus the ability fire guided shells and would have also been good to finally standardize our insanely diverse artillery stock.
