PAF Special Purpose Assets - News, Discussions & Updates

Wow - interesting if that has happened. Would like to see if they are re-using the dome sensors itself or if they are just reusing the plane but installed new EW transmitters etc.
Dome is radar sir I don't think radar will be there I think it will be similar to so many versions of Y-8 ECM/ECCM/EW aircraft in China

Some rumors says it has been converted into EW platform

In theory it would have to be a massive airborne jammer or ground jammer to completely block the radars and SPECTRA of the Rafales.
no chance, they're retired and it makes no sense to waste money on maintenence intensive, cheap as chips old airframes.

it doesnt exist- they cost us pennies and their performance was subpar- as expected for the cost to be fair

One would like to think that the airframes themselves can be resold back to china given they operate so many of them ?

isn't the ZDK-03 AWACS now part of a electronic squadron ?

for what- pennies.

Really, at some point for lower cost airframes, the turbines become an increasingly larger % of the overall airframe value- if the turbines need overhaul, or are nearing the end of life (probably) or were damaged (quite easy to do!)- then alot of the time these low demand airframes end up worthless and the cost of overhaul/new turbines makes it not worth it
