PAKISTAN's GIDS displays FAAZ BVR air to air missiles at #IDEF2023.Major thing will be FAAZ-2 with 180km range and dual pulse rocket motor engine. But here we've two versions oof FAAZ-1 with 100km range. Looks like GIDS may follow the pattern of MICA missile.FAAZ BVR Missile will have two guidance oriented versions:- Radar Guided FAAZ BVR missile- FAAZ BVR missile with Infrared Imaging seeker

Let's test it in active war zone.

It is not an "exercise" - PAF has been desperate to get a long range BVR with terminal guidiance by an IR seeker - they have tried many times to get the Mica IR missile, only to be turned down by France, and now they have their own missile homegrown.

Yes - it is easier to develop a missile with an IR seeker, but this is capability that the PAF wants for sure.
I don't expect any serious development out of this

Pakistan has notoriously failed in every such project it started in the past due to lack of consistent leadership and finances

Just another BS and feel good news which these military miscreants invent every now and then to keep 250 million sheep happy for a few more weeks.
These goons are capable of only buying cheap stuff from China or beg the US for 2nd hand stuff - there JUST DO NOT have the capability or R&D base to invent anything.
Such endeavors will require private industry to grow this will not be allowed

It will be how NASA was in 1990s .. incompetent untill Elon musk came along

This nothing but a way to create more positions..

I hope history proves me wrong but so far it hasn't

Hi,

The 1st one was the test bed---to see what they could do---and from what they learnt--- to what what they could do better---.

Fascinating world it is---moving at warp speed---with nothing yesterday to around 50 + aesa equipped machines today---.

Similarities & design based on SD-10 Licensed Production & Denel Dynamics. Marlin BVR missile "

Marlin uses a dual pulse rocket motor for extended range (two fuel chambers and one exhaust nozzle). For long range engagements the first pulse fires and the missile glides towards its target before the second pulse fires at a later point in time.

For shorter engagements, both pulses can be fired almost simultaneously. Top speed could be around Mach 4. Flight control is by servo motor controlled fins."

Exactly.
But the problem is the "umma" which has plenty of resources (Arabs/gulf) are not interested in financing/spending their resources for indigenous solutions but instead like to buy costly but inferior export versions of arms from West and others.
Imagine if all those dirhams and riyals spent on research and development....
Well talking of current problems to oppressed Muslim world Pakistan's role is not any significant and those other rich Muslim nations have already sold their souls to devil.
May Allah help us all. Ameen
The on-going merciless Gaza Genocide and 100% ethnic cleansing have explicitly shown: Eat Grass but have all sorts of "Bomds"; otherwise, you'll be made into "grass" by enemies' "bombs".....
