Pak Navy’s Weakest Link: Aging Helicopters, What are the Options?

Yeah Italians for some reason really do be cooperative with us.

Also, the AW139 does not have a specific naval variant, but it is used in maritime patrol and search and rescue roles by various operators, including the Italian Coast Guard.
That's about it. No ASW or AShW.

with major defence alliance with middle east, pakistan should have ToT for heavy transport including heavy heli transporters

PN is aware of this shortcoming of old rotary platforms. They are actively seeking platforms preferably from Airbus. The current financial crunch on foreign procurements has slowed the process down

helicopters in this day and age of warfare are pretty much only good for medevac or logistic roles. I honestly don't think the combat game for helis is really that important in this generation of warfare. Could be wrong, I am not military, I just do not see them being used on current fronts like Ukraine.
Helicopters have value in modern naval warfare. For example, early warning helicopters and anti-submarine helicopters. Rescue helicopters are generally deployed on frigates, while transport helicopters are used for the transportation of personnel and small amounts of supplies between ships.

In the Russia-Ukraine war, helicopters were used in battles at the beginning of the conflict. In the battle for Antonov Airport, Russia used a large number of helicopters, including the Mi-8AMTSh-VN Hip Flanker assault transport helicopter, the Mi-24PN attack helicopter, and the Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter. The assault forces successfully took control of the airport, but the follow-up troops failed to arrive in time.

I pray to God they don't get the NH-90

Naval HQ planning to buy 02 Airbus H125 pre-owned helicopters in this FY for ship-shore transport. The previous effort to buy H135 in local currency has fizzled out

I'm guessing that Navy gets the smallest piece of the pie when the Defence Budget comes out every year.

Not sure what all they can pull off with that.

I think we outta focus more on finding (more) replacements for the P-3's and see if we can get more used Helicopters from Countries like KSA.

We already got some from Qatar.

The advantage about them would be that they might not be that old and most certainly be in near perfect condition.

However..., we've been operating the Chinese Z-9's for quite a few years now.

Is PN pleased with its overall performance?

Is there an...(I don't know)...like an advanced version?

Just curious..., what all does the PLANavy use?
