Taliban have to go out and Tajiks have to take hold. Tajiks want nothing to do with Pashtuns either, unlike Taliban who want to take over KPK due to the ethnicity. So it will bring calm to us on the Western border. Taliban also hate shias so they can neither work with Iran. Thay also hate Tajiks and Uzbiks. Sadly, you are right: No good options for Afghanistan. Those here who think bombing and more bombing is going to stop the horde of 40 MILLION is going to work are wrong. The ultimate solution is peace, education, and development in Afghanistan. But you are wrong that Afghanistan and its surrogates in Pakistan could collapse Pakistan's economy and cause a 'civil' war. Pakistan has dealt with the Afghan Cancer for 80 years. This ain't new.

Pakistan, along with several regional countries, have publicly voiced against any American presence in Afghanistan. It is simply not a practical idea anyway: Planes landing and taking off on daily basis and American troops stationed in the Bagram Base? They would be very, very hard to protect and in a short time something happens and a huge blow back for whoever would be the POTUS. Aint' happening and no one promised that. Recall what it took to safely leave the Kabul Airport in late August for the Americans?!! Let's not bring Pakistan's politics into these, BTW!!

Trump also wanted Greenland and Canada. He can ask for the moon too while at it. Ain't happening.
