The USA was interested in "nation building " in Afghanistan, just like the Soviets before them, Both wanted to mold Afghanistan into their version of liberal secular societies. They failed loosing lives and money.
Pakistan is not interested in "nation building " . Afghanistan can revert to a 10th century society for all we care,
Geography matters: The Soviets had a vested interest in turning Afghanistan into another 'Stan' and look at those 'Stans' now: Far better than Afghanistan. The Soviet soldiers actually did physical labor in stuff like building schools. They also were big on women education. The Americans.. after the initial goal of toppling the Taliban, stayed for the Military Industrial Complex.

If the Taliban think their strength is guerrilla warfare, well, we have technology and we have people who can fight guerrilla warfare too.

Right!

Wonder if the drone strikes are being done by TB2 or Akinci or Chinese drones? We have seen Turkish drones over Kabul.

Not really. Historically many powers subdued them ranging from the Greeks to the Mongols to the Mughals.

In the modern era invading powers have had difficulties due to the demands of modern warfare, specifically the logistics that are involved with maintaining an occupying presence. Modern military equipment requires supply and logistics chain that are highly susceptible to guerrilla warfare. That is the only thing that has stood on the side of Afghanistan. Bleeding modern invading forces in their mountainous terrian

That does not matter for Pakistan. We are not invading and seeking to occupy Kabul or Herat. We can hit targets within their country without having to worry about fuel or providing spare parts to our troops and their equipment on the front lines.
Man, I made a mistake by not adding explanation to what I wrote and people keep coming back to prove me wrong for what was just a pun :D

Graveyard = correct
Graveyard of Empires = Perhaps not

Why are we trying to knock out individual viechles. Afghanistan has some very good American kit and as long as it doesn’t pose an immidiete threat to us we shouldnt target it. Instead target their oil reserves, refineries and other infrastructure whilst continuing our blockade when their economy comes to a halt and their viechles cannot run then we capture them
I know right ! Whenever I see those US vehicles, I feel sad that these stupid Taliban would get those beautiful machines destroyed.

I hope Pakistan destroys more oil depots, so Taliban stop driving the remaining US vehicles.

This war is all about 2 things. First is the Bagram air base which was refused by
the Afghan Taliban and the other is Asim Munir's extension.

If Asim can remove Taliban and Americans can get Bagram then they will
support Asim's extension. Just like they supported Musharaf when he handed
over 2 bases to Americans.

OMG!! I was wondering when the domestic Pakistani politics was going to come to this thread!! You guys!!!! Just stop with your BS! Go to some political thread for your stupid Imran Khan propaganda! You expat Pakistanis have already misled most of the non-Pakistanis here and in the wider world without incessant propaganda.

Where has IK come into all this? lol

Just my opinion, Mushy handed over 2 bases without asking any bloody civilian
to save his kursi and get American approval. Same thing is happening now.

If you don't agree with me move on, don't start crying.

Another PTI-supporter Expat on my 'Ignore' list.
