Pakistan Agriculture News / Discussions

This isn’t a Churan problem - it’s a “your ego is writing checks your intellect cannot cash” problem.

Because its clear from the earlier agriculture project failures that the wrong people were in charge and wrong decision makers who have zero qualifications other than “My family had lands”.

Until this establishment issue of “I know this” is solved - NOTHING can be fixed. This is the single biggest problem of rotten Pakistani culture (not just establishment) of thinking they know it all or pretending to for ego reasons.

This character flaw across the entire nation can be harmless(relatively) at Lahoris giving directions level to disastrous when at leadership level

In his upcoming book, The Bureaucratic Coup, Tariq Mahmood Awan summed it up well: "You cannot reform what has already seized control of reform itself."

To add, this administration is firing off mixed signals, with SBP saying one thing and the advisor another.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Privatisation and Chairman of the Privatisation Commission (PC) Muhammad Ali said on Saturday Pakistan had no industrial and export plans to fix fundamentals and put the domestic economy on a growth path.

Why worry about such nuisance when the "govt" has more pressing issues to solve such as how to stop the country’s popular leadership from coming out of prison…

Saudi Arabia has shown interest in investing in corporate farming in Pakistan’s rice sector to ensure a stable, reliable supply of rice through structured, long-term arrangements between the two countries.

The issue came up for discussion in a meeting between Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Assistant Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia Ibrahim Al-Mubarak on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed and advanced bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and joint engagement in regional markets.

An official announcement released after the meeting noted that the Saudi side expressed interest in pursuing corporate farming in the rice sector.

It was observed that Pakistan already meets the required quality standards, and that investment in corporate-scale farming, mechanisation, storage, and logistics could support steady rice exports to Saudi Arabia.

More broadly, discussions on agriculture and food security focused on cooperation in rice, fodder (including alfalfa), meat, and selected agricultural products. Both sides also examined the potential role of Saudi financing institutions in supporting export-linked agricultural and infrastructure projects in Pakistan, particularly those structured around guaranteed offtake arrangements with Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan’s export push is Rhodes grass, a high-protein tropical fodder widely used to feed dairy cattle, camels, horses, and other livestock in water-scarce Gulf countries. As desert climates and water shortages limit domestic cultivation in Gulf states, reliance on imported fodder has grown steadily.

Industry representatives have called on Pakistan’s trade authorities to secure government-to-government agreements that would facilitate product registration and market access in China. Exporters believe that once approved, fodder shipments to China could potentially move via land routes, creating new trade corridors and enhancing regional agricultural connectivity.

The sector’s expansion has been rapid. Cultivated acreage for Rhodes grass has reportedly increased by more than 60 percent over the past three to four years, reaching approximately 120,000 acres nationwide. Large-scale farms in Sindh province now produce tens of tons daily for export.

With agriculture contributing roughly 24 percent to Pakistan’s GDP and employing nearly 38 percent of the labor force, stakeholders believe that securing access to China could transform fodder into a major non-traditional export category.

Early cotton sowing: Punjab sets target of 700,000 acres

Recorder Report
February 15, 2026

LAHORE: The Punjab government has set a target of 700,000 acres for early cotton sowing next season, aiming to enhance per-acre yield and stabilize overall cotton output amid broader efforts to revitalize the province’s cotton economy.

This was stated by Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo while chairing a meeting at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University in Multan, where an action plan for early cotton cultivation was finalized.

He said early cotton would be promoted in the divisions of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad and Sahiwal, while only seasonal cotton would be cultivated in the Bahawalpur Division, in line with agro-climatic suitability and crop planning strategy.

You can see the systematic problem and what I said regarding Aqal e qul issue and also “don’t argue with elders” cultural phuddupan which btw Khan sb suffers as well to a massive degree.

Dr Samar is a brilliant man whom I have met a few times. But, why was he involved beyond his specific expertise even if broad due to his involvement in Uranium mining efforts?
Then, if he is called as witness where is the lawyer preparing him?
If the lawyer did not prepare him to not make such statements then shoot the lawyer in the ass. If the lawyer preparing him was not confident he would maintain his statements in court then the lawyer should have asked for his removal as a witness.

This is the idea of competence.

Jab lawyer hi bc ullu ke pathe hain tu marwao dunya ke saamne
He was a brilliant mind but jealousy of AQ khan cosumed him, his son is also a good good person

Technically AQ Khan did get undue attention as well - part of it was his(AQ) self promotion and early venture into KRL.
