Asim Munir is here till 2035 minimum as per trends of his actions so far (amdendments after amendments in constitution to grab more and more power) and then he will be appointed as President of Pakistan till 2040. Of course, during all this time PML(N)-PPP will remian in power. This is my analysis of his plans. Rest Allah knows the best.

I think the PAF will give the Eurofighter Typhoon another go. FATF is no longer flagging our capital inter-bank transfers and, more crucially, everyone knows that a J-35AE purchase is not 'small-ticket' at all; the budgetary scope (including infrastructure rework) is likely at-par with that of the Typhoon. Moreover, we saw Airbus DS and Leonardo promote the Typhoon at IDEAS.

There's also the impact of the US NSS, which now explicitly demands that regional partners (including White House debutant beaus Gen. Munir and PM Shahbaz Sharif) align with US policies. Not sure how far Pakistan can go with deepening defence ties with China without overtly picking a side. And we know the current leadership ain't taking an anti-US bent at any level; rather, they want to be perceived as pro-US.

I'm gonna do a puttputtputt take and bet we'll see the PAF start talks for 36 Typhoons configured on Turkey's spec with Roketsan munitions.

Only a crazy man would select a 4.5 gen non-stealth platform over a stealth platform ...

The era of new procurements of the Typhoon/F16 jets for the PAF is over. The next stop for the PAF is more J10CE's, possibly JF17 Block 4 ( PFX-Alpha) if that project works out, and the wait for the J-35A followed by the Kaan.

olso why would we buy typhoon when we already have j10 , makes sense to get more j10s .

I dunno man. The challenge we have is that the US actively wants key regional players to stop playing nice with China (see the recent Trump National Security Strategy), and that any loan, aid, trade deal, etc, with said country is conditional on this requirement.

Let me frame it this way... If tomorrow the US and EU approve a $10 bn defence loan to Pakistan, would the PAF say "no" to Typhoons? Set aside our personal views and ask what AHQ would do. Just to be real, but when our senior leaders retire, they don't move to Shanghai, they go to London and their kids go to USA/Canada. Just saying.

I wish we dont have people like you in PAF procurement. Only a downsyndrome can choose a 4.5 gen over a 5th gen fighter

Yes, they would say no to Typhoons. I don't understand your thinking or logic, as it makes no sense what so ever. Pakistan is not going to take a loan of $10billion to then take another for $10 billion to buy Typhoons, that makes no sense what so ever.

we had a role in USSR Afghanistan war where USSR was not over direct neighbor.. going against china with 10b loan? i would say if even they gave 100 billion free we should not do it let aside loan

i said this before too but ill be VERY surprised if the PAF does not induct a proper twin seat fighter, the PAF needs something capable of being a 'command post' for UCAV's, esp considering we might see many new loyal wingmen designs at ideas, not the JF17, nor the J-10, nor the j-35 can do it in its current form... but who can?

You know, PAF wants to build JF-17 at home and wean off china (sorta), why we dont have airbus invest funds and provide assistance in a PFX...i will wonder. Heck, even last night i was thinking, imagine PAF super hornet-ifying the JF-17, but with Airbus, with them investing part of a contract value back in (like how they wanted to with Korea)... just a thought really.

Anyway, we have so many fighters needed before we consider the next gen. PAF might be the only force operating 3rd and 5th gen fighters in the same fleet,..?
