Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

Interesting Story:

In the early 70s the then President and CMLA, Mr. Z A Bhutto vowed that Pakistan would eat grass but we will have our own nuclear weapons.
This news startled the USA and President Nixon sent his Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissenger to Pakistan to convince Bhutto not to pursue the nuclear weapons option and as a inducement offered 100 A-7 fighter-bomber aircraft and US$ 500m in cash.
The Americans were so confident that Pakistan would accept the offer and had painted 2 A-7s in PAF livery for the agreement ceremony and invited PAF officials to inspect the aircraft.

Of course Bhutto rejected the offer and Kissenger threatened Bhutto with dire consequences.

Pakistan will start deliveries to Azerbaijan’s Air Force of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex JF-17 Thunder Block III 4+ generation multirole fighter aircraft in the near future, likely within 2025.

The first batch ordered by Azerbaijan includes eight JF-17 Block IIIs (including 6 JF-17C and 2 JF-17D versions) which are to be delivered on priority-basis from units initially ordered by the Pakistan Air Force for its third JF-17 Block III squadron. These airframes had already started their manufacturing cycle on the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex’s Project Thunder assembly lines at the AMF. The customer was changed for these airframes from the PAF to the AzAF, so that deliveries could begin in 2025 and continue through most of the second half of the 2020s-decade.

During the extended delivery phase of the first batch of 8 aircraft, Azerbaijan will exercise options for an additional eight aircraft included in the initial deal with Pakistan for the sale of the JF-17 weapon system, and the order for the second batch will be executed, which will also contain the same mix of JF-17C/D Block III aircraft. This will conclude Azerbaijan’s JF-17 military sale with Pakistan, likely around or a little after 2030, with the Azeri Air Force operating 12 JF-17C and 4 JF-17D Block III fighter aircraft, along with their full range of advanced air to air and air to ground weaponry and combat systems.
