I wrote these posts with having some knowledge of the future events, like the Saudi-Pakistani defense pact.
A new force is being raised. Initially it will comprise of joint assets from the PAF / PA /PN and Saudi military. But that's not the target. Other nations will join this force in the future.
The target is, we (Saudias + Pakistanis) establish a joint industry producing key military hardware including 5th gen jets and missiles both BVR and AD.
JF-17 is a success story. It wasn't meant to build a full aviation industry, nor we had the funds to establish a full aviation industry. It's goal was to give us a starter into the field of aviation and most of all, allow to build a joint jet that's super cost effective, can perform workhorse activities day /night and can be produced in numbers. All goals met.
With the joint structure we'll see in place, has no issues in funding. So this time, establishing a proper manufacturing line of some 5th and 4.5 generation platform, whether customized for Pakistan or an existing fighter's variant will be required. You can't build and run a military alliance when the weapons used by that alliance are depending on foreign nations. This makes the entire concept of a military alliance invalid.
