But, at the end the impact of it will be felt by the juniors and warfighting capacity (if True).
Keep in mind, Iraq had the most impressive AD in the region on paper and it crumbled MUCH faster than expected due to incompetence and nepotism.

Can't disagree with the rest. I sure hope this appointment and all future ones benefit the country, but as always, we shall see.

Been talking to and hearing alot of conversations of ex Generals and Brigadiers and others in my vicinity.

C4I networks and strategic integration are the last though on anyone's mind. Stark departure from a few years back. The same faces which were jind jaan zindabad a few years back are now literally crying blood tears over the state of the army and it's punjab pulsification. Whatsapp groups are alight.

At least Asim got his man finally, the whole reason he was waiting so long for the appointment.

Funny thing though, pehle sab elected PM COAS junior aur apni marzi ka lagatay thay so he doesn't screw them later on. Now we have the COAS appointing junior underlings and doing a supersede galore for the same. But tbf, this practice has been going on since a while.

Great for Punjab pulsification, as this guy is not from Punjab. So the only 4 star in the Army is from KP. Your whatsapp groups might need to touch some grass, mate.

That being said - this man is not from Punjab - so perhaps less on alarmist whatsapp groups and more on verifiable multiple sources.

At the end, regardless of the veracity of the reports and the merit for the appointment - it is INEVITABLE that strongmen will start appointing Yes men and start securing their position because they have not come through popular support and to remain they need to build their own power structures.

That is an extreme view and nowhere reflects reality.

Merit matters and is imposed 95% all the way until you get the second star. Then relationships and fit start building in.

That doesn’t mean that those get passed over cannot utilize their relationships for personal gain outside of the army and many frequently do thinking of post retirement assurances.

All other accusations are chicken little alarmism and general one narrative cult against another

From what I saw / heard, merit is practised upto one star.

But the benefits of being bypassed / not considered are more.

You get a plot and medal for being not considered for promotion.

Next time when you are promoted, you get a second plot.

Those who get promoted in the first time, get only one plot.

So financially, it is beneficial if you are not promoted / rejected the first time.

Every commander has a right to place his own team to get the mission done according to his vision. There shouldn't be any hard feelings about that. It is in the interest of the institution itself. No one wants divergency, or even worse the rivalry, in the top command.
