Pakistan Army Small Arms

Platform is decided, if they are not looking for kickbacks contracts. G-3 with lighter polymer furniture, Zenticto/Sureshot furtniture from Russia for their AK's. And for the SOF elements SOPMOD Block 2 platform from US.
Bro do you know if they gonna import stuff from Zenitco and Sureshot or make it under licence in Pakistan?

GIDS KLASS 786 u mean. Anyway GIDS and Cavalier guns r practically the same.
GIDS is basically a marketing company isn’t it? under DEPO.. the colt rifle itself being marketed by cavalier group in sort of a JV?

Do you think it will go through? considering army isn’t really buying the BW series..

I was simply mentioning that was it was logical choice for POF if they choose to do so. Otherwise they knock themselves out with those bastardized versions of their G-3s or they can run another rifle competition

Whatever you do, my recommendation is to NOT allow the US Army to oversee it on your behalf. It will be 15-20 years before you adopt a new rifle.

I am now beginning to understand why 5.56 makes sense. Its better to have 5.56 because ammo carrying capacity and have 1-2, 7.62x51 per need. That's now a standard configuration and makes total clarity.
we should keep the caliber as 7.62 and go for a Russian gun with license production in Pakistan

Why a Russian platform?

FN produces quality weapons as do the Swiss, Germans, and Czechs.

The MG-3 for example is still an excellent LMG considering it's derived from the MG-42.

Out of all these options. FN and Czechs are best options.

In our previous trials FN Herstal SCAR-H was top contender. CZ Bren platform didn't performed well that's what we heard.
But I would say this Bren platform is the best logical choice. Because CZ rep in on of the interviews mentioned ToT.
Bren 807 in 7.62x39 and Bren Battle Rifle in 7.62 NATO should be Pak step into 21st century.
If you doubt Bren performance 807 in 7.62x39 is in service by French GIGN

FN Herstal is how do I put this, bit expensive 🫰 to be a widely adopted rifle.

Simple, Robust, Reliable, Affordable, and They would be open to license manufacturing on easy terms.

INSHALLAH I can see GIDS coming up with something really good eventually. Because this G 3 and Type 56 combo can't continue anymore

They should adopt the bren, the initial cost for the the first few Thousand rifles might be high but as local production ramps up it would become cheaper.

is that 7.62x39? then the Russians have abandoned it 50 years ago and went the American route after seeing effectiveness of 5.56x45 and made 5.45x39! more over the Russians are testing 6mm ammo and new gun for it.
where ever 7.62x39 and 5.56 have been given a chance 5.56 gets the pick. in Afghanistan the Taliban completely dropped the AK and now they rock AR15s because, lighter, accurate and carry more ammo.

If its 7.62x51 then that is a battle rifle cartridge. Its heavy and so is the rifle for it so now a squad will have one or two of these rifle as needed and most others have lighter 5.56 because you can carry more ammo, lighter recoil and accurate. 5.56 is accurate there is no debate.
Imagine walking for miles over uneven terrain carrying a battle rifle, or carry a AR!
