High-level meeting in Beijing: China and Pakistan pledge mutual support and defense cooperation​

Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Pakistan Army, in Beijing. Zhang expressed China’s willingness to work with Pakistan in implementing key agreements, strengthening practical cooperation, and jointly tackling global challenges. He hoped for continued strategic support between their militaries, deeper defense cooperation, and the preservation of global and regional peace. Mirza affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s principles on Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong, regardless of changing global situations.

BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhua) — Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Pakistan Army Sahir Shamshad Mirza in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhang said the Chinese side is willing to work with the Pakistani side in implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhancing pragmatic cooperation, and jointly addressing global challenges.

He expressed the hope that the two militaries will continue to support each other strategically, jointly work for deeper and more substantive defense and security cooperation, and jointly safeguard global and regional peace and stability.

Sahir Shamshad Mirza said the Pakistani side will firmly support China’s principles and stances on issues concerning Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and Hong Kong no matter how global and regional situations change.

The Pakistani military is willing to deepen its cooperation with the Chinese military to safeguard common interests and promote common development, he said.

The Vice Premier of China Mr. He Lifeng who is on an official visit to Pakistan, held a meeting with Chief of the Army Staff Pakistan Army General Syed Asim Munir.

Both discussed matters of mutual interests, defence cooperation and pledged to enhance bilateral relations.

As part of the yearly plan and mutual agreement, the Shaheen 10 Joint Air Force Training Exercise between China and Pakistan will take place in Jiuquan and Yinchuan in northwest China.
This exercise will occur from late August to mid-September.

The China HQ-9 SAM modern missile are much compact compared to say S-25 Berkut SA-1 guild Soviet Union Golden eagle of 1980s .

HQ-9BE has a modified type Slimmer missile with same length. Change in missile diameter means that 8x8 launcher can carry 8 missiles instead of 4.

In an exercise in 2021,PLAAF HQ-9B Brigade was deployed 500kms & enemy assets at altitudes of up to 30kms into unfamiliar territory. The brigade struck four target drones with four shots using the enhanced HQ-9 successfully under strong electromagnetic interference.
