Only viable strategy I can see is Army is just playing defense to exhaust the bhartoids of their logistics and then strike, otherwise allowing this many attempts of aggression is pure insanity.

I have been advocating a combination of 1948 with 1965 to take back IoK. Difficult, yes. Impossible, No. I think the circumstances in Kashmir are much changed now.
I don't think India has that kind of emotional bonds with the Muslim part of Iok that Pakistan has and maybe Pakistan wouldn't mind parting with the Hindu majority part of IoK. I think something like that was being discussed in the so-called Chenab Formula to divide Kashmir until Musharraf and Manmohan almost came to an agreement over something else. Plus I also think India's position in Iok has never been this weak: A local population so thoroughly alienated, China sitting on top of Ladakh, and Pakistan is militarily much stronger then ever before; Pakistan's own defense industry is stronger than ever before plus China is there with full support minus actual Chinese troops. Then there is the Sikh factor in Indian Punjab. And I don't think in today's world, India can count on any major external support.
So the combination of favorable conditions is unprecedented. And no nuclear threshold has to be crossed: Pakistan could and should use militias to cross into IoK and use the bulk of the regular Pakistani army in defensive posture along the International Border. It will be a bloodbath but I think doable. But if no solution is found then Pakistan will be dealing with Indian attacks and water blackmail for as long as Modi's politics remains alive in India.

No Pakistani is against taking Kashmir. It has long been argued that Kashmir remains an unresolved issue of partition.

However one can't be idealistic...reality cannot be ignored. 1948 was the golden chance...where Pakistan could've taken the whole of J&K...India had no easy supply route or access. Pakistan Army refused at first(British leadership) and therefore tribal militias were used instead who didn't follow proper orders nor realized certain strategic goals...thus squandering the opportunity. By the time Pakistan Army intervened...they had also squandered the original opportunity by not acting when asked initially.

In 65 Pakistan could have been successful in Kashmir...but as I pointed out earlier...India opened other fronts...diverting Pakistan's efforts.

The same reality stands today...in fact India is much stronger economically today compared to Pakistan(than it was in 1948 or 1965). India is also more well connected to that region(compared to the past) for deployments, reinforcements, supply.

In 99 as well ..it was assumed that India wouldn't respond with full force.

So why today make assumptions and think urself from an advantageous position? In military war gaming...it would be more beneficial to give ur enemy all the advantages...and think of ways to counteract, limit, or overcome those advantages of ur enemy...
...only then can u hope to win...

IMO conventionally this can now be achieved with a strong alliance with China...or even more ideal would be with China and Bangladesh. Even in absence of a mutual defence pact...
...just having synergy between the armed forces of these countries...by frequent exercises(well integrated like NATO) and if possible having commonality in equipment.

This would force India to split on 3 fronts...even if one border is hot ...India would be uneasy to commit fully towards it ...always having to guard and commit personnel, equipment, and resources on its other borders.

While building these alliances and a deep integration and synergy with the armed forces of China(and BD if possible)...focus heavily on economic development...war game(and be prepared) for when an opportunity arises. When it does...that would be the right time to do as u suggested.

In that case...with quick gains let's say in Kashmir...while another border is hot(let's say around chicken's neck)...India would be likely to concede(and possibly agree to a ceasefire/agreement with Pakistan) just so it can prevent further losses of its eastern territories for example.

Otherwise India wouldn't be so easily willing to lose any land...even if it's populated by Muslims... especially one that's strategic in terms of water sources.

PARIS: A high-ranking French intelligence official told CNN on Wednesday that one Rafale fighter jet operated by the Indian Air Force was downed by Pakistan Air Force (PAF), in what would mark the first time that one of the sophisticated French-made warplanes has been lost in combat.

Pakistan has announced having shot down five Indian Air Force jets in retaliation for Indian strikes, including three Rafales. Indian officials are yet to respond to the claim. The French official told CNN that French authorities were looking into whether more than one Rafale jets were shot down by Pakistan overnight.

Pictures taken of parts of an aircraft that crashed in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir show the label of a French manufacturer, but experts said it was not possible to say whether the part came from a Rafale aircraft.

According New York Times, a weapons researcher, who analyzed photos from one wreckage site in the village of Wuyan, identified the debris as an external fuel tank for a plane. The analyst, Trevor Ball, of Armament Research Services of the US, said the tank was likely from a Rafale or Mirage fighter jet, both of which are made by the French manufacturer Dassault Aviation and used by India. Mr. Ball could not confirm whether the tank had come from an aircraft that had been hit by enemy fire. Dassault Aviation, the French manufacturer of the jet, has not responded to CNN’s requests for comment.


The Rafale is a 10-ton, twin-engine multirole fighter, equipped with a 30mm cannon for air combat and ground support, along with air-to-air missiles, laser-guided bombs, and cruise missiles.

Before this latest escalation, India had 36 Rafale jets in its Air Force, purchased from French manufacturer Dassault Aviation.

The French military has not officially commented on the incident. However, the company’s stock prices did take a hit, plummeting 6 per cent after Pakistan announced to have downed three Rafale jets.

According to media reports, the sharp contrast in investor sentiment could be a sign of global market confidence in the capabilities of PAF and performance of the JF-17 and J-10C jets, developed in cooperation with China.
