China already knows much about it but the US continues to improve it. India also knows much about F-16 but Indian Air Force could not down even one in a fight. Jet fighters can be continuously updated but they are a part of the equation. Indian Air Force has shortcomings in the EW and ISR domains (see). The US will not just provide a jet fighter but push for organizational reforms and transformation for it to work but Indians are not mentally up for it yet. They are not comfortable with American RULES in place. French do not tell what Indians need to do. This is the difference.

The French want to close sales and keep on selling spares/parts and service for up to some years.

The USA wants institutional influence over you and to have a continuous, mandatory input into your ways of doing things.

The Indians could have gone the USA way up until the last five years. The Russians however are now reasserting their interests and would strong arm the Indians into backing out from going the USA way for their next big item purchase. There is no way Russia will let the export version of the Su-57 go unbought by the Indians. Since the Indians are now very afraid and scared and will rush to get the next big super dooper jet. The USA will force the Indians to consider the F-35 or else face further American ire. It they don't, the post-Trump America will not tolerate it. The post-Trump America might give the Caucasian countries some room to breathe but not to the coloured ones when it comes to $$.

The Indians are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

It was not a "Dog Fight", it was an air battle if you can call that. For a battle you need two opposing sides willing to fight, in this case their was one frightened side that just lobbed a few projectiles 100 miles away from the border and turned tail, the other side still engaged the runaway party for a billion dollar firework that lasted 20 odd minutes with 3 Raphails, 1 Su30MKI and one Mig19 turned in to fireballs racing each other to see who hits the ground first.

Dog fight was the term used for two forces engaged in beyond visual range kinetic movements...
Each firing its BVRs and bailing out the avoid the opposition BVRs..

The with superior BVR and superior kinetic maneuvers will win if we consider both forves having similar sensor and aircrafts

Till now, the ONLY saving grace of armed forces in Pakistan has been that they are strong and don't let Pakistan get bullied.

But they do are dumb enough to elect a sanki modi to power . . As I said earlier modi is not backing off and indian military is reluctant but have to follow orders which in turn is forcing ours to an actual fight . Iam seeing promising results in both nuclear and non nuclear scenario.

Agree since total invasion is unlikely and avoidable due to nuclear weapons..
You can simply relay on nvukear thresholds that gets activated in case of full 1971 style invasion

So whats rhe point of military if you going to accept sub nuclear threshold bullying without any response

If you want to deescalate fine but whats the point of keeping a 800k army with huge conevntinal force

You can easily cut to 200k, keep a decent air force and small arms ..may be gut many battalions and conventional forces and relay on nuclear and paramilitary forces alone(you have 300k of them too in addition to 800k)
