This has been a poor performance for a military in protection of 250 million people.

Trying to cope are we?

-If I were an Indian and believed everything the government is telling me, my questions/observations would be:

1. IAF/IA has been conducting strikes inside Azad Kashmir, it has done its operation Bandar on Balakot, it has done its operation Sindoor .. How are these strikes successful considering somehow even after such major operations, terror attacks still happen. In other words, based on New Dehli's own rhetoric, it has effectively been a failure to deter Pakistan and Pakistani proxies despite all the military action that has been always been touted as a "resounding success"

2. In Op Sindoor, as you yourself have stated many times that it was a success because strikes were conducted across International border. That to you was the barometer for success, even though you had to pay in material and pride as well as the rhetoric on your side regarding Rafale/SU-30 going back a decade as to how superior it was to PAF platforms. And then Op Sindoor happened and both your prized possessions were gone before they could even be a factor worth consideration. Going back to the point, if the barometer to measure success is striking in mainland country not in disputed territories, both Pakistan and India have done so, with Pakistan having a considerable edge in terms of giving damage to the Indian side.

PROBLEM now is not off ramp or descalation, both countries should be smart enough to understand the risk of a full fledged war

Indians don’t want to concede to be seen as equal to Pakistan, in any thing, let alone in warfare. They want to be the hegemon of South Asia. They have to be compelled to stop fighting (because they don’t want to hear reason), after having lost enough face to not consider such a misadventure again. Modi and those of his political persuasion need to be weakened in the eyes off the Indian public and the world such that he has to look weaker with every day this goes on. That is how a de-escalation can be forced upon them, this is how it can get done.

One element is if China is seen as gaining strategically from this, with each passing day, the US could put pressure on India to stop.

I seriously doubt that the Indians would even ask France to send their pilots in harm's way in the middle of a war.
