He is former Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Association and was appointed by Imran Khan himself, also served as a Federal Minister and his role as Chairperson Fauji Foundation.

There is a common misunderstanding between the role of the Chairperson/Chairman and the CEO. The Chairman heads the chair of the board representing the interests of shareholders and to lead the board, the CEO is involved in the "Day-to-Day" executive functions of the business who is supported by the C-Suite including the COO (Chief Operations Officer) = the person involved in the day-to-day running of the enterprise.

The current Chief Operations Officer is Khurram Mushtaq a highly experienced PIA officer and in the past served the airline as Chief Projects Officer, Head of Security. He also has experience of leading various PIA departments including Commercial, Airport Services and Flight Services.
