Because all of this is a dog and pony show. Perhaps this was how the USA tried to create a pressure point to get a better bargaining position in negotiations with China, but the Chinese did not fall for it. The Chinese most likely have their own vast oil reserves and have been keeping it a secret and so did not panic about their oil needs. But this was not very likely a reason.

Perhaps it was just a good old market manipulation scam for Trump and Company to finally make those $100s of Billions of dollars he always dreamed of, because otherwise it made no sense for a money starved individual like Trump to not make $$ from presidency.

The USA has enough missile/bombing capacity to level every Iranian city to the ground. They did not do it because it would mean 5 Million Iranians crossing the shore reaching Arabia wrecking havoc and about 20 or so million Iranians heading towards Jerusalem to fulfill a certain prophecy after Iran would nuke Israel in retaliation.

So they did not want to risk a real wide open hot war.

But the MOST likely reason behind all of this is just plain old greed for $$.

If Saudi cash is used to build these motorways and ports , for how many centuries will they extract tolls and fees ?

E.g. in the US a major new bridge has been to built on Canada border to facilitate trade, called the Gordon Howie Bridge. It has been paid for by Canada with the right to collect tolls for 36 years after opening.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations on Saturday night with the foreign ministers of Turkiye and Egypt, discussing the evolving regional situation and recent progress towards an understanding between the United States and Iran, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

In a post on X, MoFA said during his conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Dar exchanged views on regional developments and welcomed the encouraging progress towards an understanding between the US and Iran.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Wednesday stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum of negotiations through dialogue and diplomacy following the successful first round of technical talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland.

The remarks came after Iran and the United States announced on June 14 that they had reached a 14-point understanding, mediated by Pakistan, aimed at ending the conflict and resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and negotiations.

“Had a warm and most cordial telephone conversation with my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emir of the State of Qatar, this afternoon,” the prime minister said in a post on X.

He said he thanked the Qatari emir for his steadfast support for peace efforts that culminated in the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
