Steinmann did a great job bringing the PAF to western audiences via photography in the 80s and 90s
Add to that the late Mohammad Amin, Masud Quraishi, Brian Tetly and Duncan Willetts for the PAF photography in their work "Defenders of Pakistan". This was the first time PAF gave permission to outsiders to take photos from inside of their cockpits.

I don't think I have seen a better, finer production in terms of quality of photography and the fantastic narrative put together since that body of work.

Those who have not seen or read it, highly recommended! Some old copies are still available on the Net.

I still remember forking over Rs 465.00 at the Pak-American bookstore (a gem of a place to visit every time I was in Karachi.) in the 80s. The book was worth every paisa and more.

Yaar, by posting this you do not realise how many memories from my childhood came flooding back. This was given to me by my uncle, first real book and amazing pictures on Pak Army,, Navy and PAF. Think even Kaiser Tufail pic with 9 Sqd badge.

Even back then, although with dated equipment, our men looked badass....
