Where? Do they even have the space on any PN vessel? VL also causes missiles to be significantly redesigned to be launched vertically. Fatah II is designed to be launched from box launcher, so box launcher on ships makes the most sense anyway. Ntm we cant afford to put enough VLS AD missiles on our ships where will we fit smash
Given where it's located in midship, yeah, there would be space, and yes you would have to redesign ignition and launch for VLS but guess all that is too much hard work. Perhaps acquiring hulls with forward planning for weapons integration would have helped, rather than sticking a land based missile to a ship as an afterthought. But then again, if the North Koreans can design a hull and vessel brimming with VLS for cruise and ballistic missiles, I don't see why the PN can't, but like I said, perhaps that's all that planing is just too much hard work, better to just buy hulls and slap a few land based missiles on it.

Yep lots of tests happening hopefully we a USV test soon

It won’t be announced, PN doesnt need to advertise and showcase such capabilities. Theyre only giving these notams to clear flight path. I assume PN is looking at ukraine and iran very intently and testing systems but wont showcase until war time

I swear people here vastly overestimate what we can keep secret, if we are testing USVs the Indians will know, making a press release that you have conducted a test doesn't really reveal any "capabilities" It's not like they reveal any details it's just buzzword buzzword buzzword, keeping everything top secret is the same old Babu mentality.

Its not about revealing capabilities. IN will know if we conduct tests but why would pn want to publicly boast about it anyway. The only navies publicly showing off their usvs are Ukraine and iran. Everyone else is keeping cards close to chest and just learning rn. Us is deploying UUVs to clear mines in hormuz rn but they wont be showing off how they do it

Neither is the PN going to reveal any details, has the PN actually revealed any details about SMASH? No.

I wouldn’t be the first to take inspiration from North Korean ship design. The thing is a floating magazine with massive top weight issues. Sure if theres space you can potentially put in a couple VLS cells but only a few and probably not much more than putting box launchers on anyway. But This doesn’t touch cost side at all nor does it take into account the ability to replace system if needed. PN doesn’t have a universal VLS designed for their systems. Yes you cant talk about lack of planning in these systems but we still dont know how committed PN truly is to this system. Unlike IN which went all in on Brahmos more than a decade ago and plannned all their ships around the system as a result. You can argue about planning but SMASH as a result of being a repurposed fatah is a much simpler and cheaper system to implement in principle.

GIDS already has revealed details about SMASH tho which is basically the same thing

What details have they actually released?

Not much but they made a poster for export purposes that is where we get a lot of information about smash from

I don't know

Doesn't reveal anything we can't speculate already, one thing is interesting is that it shows the SMASH being launched from a Tugril class ship.

Speculation is one thing. Where else would we have known about weight of warhead and the difference between land attack and anti ship one.or CEP which here is <15 m whereas on the stands in august 25 it was listed as <20m. GIDS is releasing this info because PN wants it to be public and to show off this capability for A2AD and to show off their own high end weapons systems that have been n in development for long time
