First of all, we are very cautious about arms exports. So, why not buy directly from China instead of complicating the transaction by adding an additional intermediary ? And how will payments from these sanctioned or sanction-prone buyers be received without incurring sanctions ourselves ?
This is the result of 75 years of friendly development between the two countries.I don't know any more beyond what is in the open sources. But this is Pakistan mining opportunities thanks to our cooperation with China. Credit for this goes to our Chinese friends just as much as our own efforts to highlight the defense portfolio and providing support and advisory to the buyers.
Eh?Lot of sources reporting that Saudi is looking to pull back military resources from Africa (both libya and sudan) due to western pressure which means there will be no financing for the deal. Some of it is secondary to wariness of Iranian sympathizers in the region. These countries cannot afford the military supplies without foreign financing.

Saudi Arabia Blocks Pakistan’s US$1.5 Billion Sudan Arms Package, Threatening Sudan Army’s Bid for Air Superiority - Defence Security Asia

Not surprised.
Whenever the Saudis have signed any deal with Pakistan involving any sort of military supply, the Saudis have ALWAYS pulled out.
They've proven to be extremely unreliable.
I still remember the whole "Saudis are buying Al-khalid tanks!" BS that most people on PDF were shouting more than a decade ago. Then that became "Saufis are buying JF-17s for their National Guard!", and now this.Which is why it is always so embarrassing to see Pakistan, try to go down this road again and again, all to end in failure.
Saudis spend multi billions on western arms not because they may be better but with them come security support. However Iran has pulled that illusion down so how they move forward is anyone's to guess.I still remember the whole "Saudis are buying Al-khalid tanks!" The Saudis are never going to buy Pakistani, not for themselves and not for anyone else.
tbh, the issue with the Libya, Sudan et al. al news was that it was reported by a single source (Reuters with, let's say, very hands-free editorial oversight on the authors) and now, the cancellation is coming from the same source.Lot of sources reporting that Saudi is looking to pull back military resources from Africa (both libya and sudan) due to western pressure which means there will be no financing for the deal. Sudan happens to be under UN arms embargo. No country can sell arms to Sudan.
This supposed JF17 deal was never going to happen and everyone knows that. This supposed deal was just an attempt build a hype around Jf17.
When one has good product on their hands, they do not need false advertising to sell it.You've got to give credit to the Pakistanis though. They even sold dozens of it to create this hype. Very unorthodox.
They will double down on US security guarantees, even though the US has shown their guarantees are only real when it comes to supporting Israel, and that they'll abandon the Arabs if they have to.Saudis spend multi billions on western arms not because they may be better but with them come security support.
