First of all, we are very cautious about arms exports.

Secondly, we do not allow the export of weapons to countries at war.

Pakistan is the best choice. Price is an advantage. Other countries have purchased Pakistani weapons, and the U.S. will not criticize Pakistan. If other countries purchase Chinese weapons, the U.S. will criticize and intervene.

There is no need to worry about payment issues. The SWIFT settlement system controlled by the U.S. often kicks other countries out of the settlement system. I don't know any more beyond what is in the open sources. But this is Pakistan mining opportunities thanks to our cooperation with China. Credit for this goes to our Chinese friends just as much as our own efforts to highlight the defense portfolio and providing support and advisory to the buyers.

Whenever the Saudis have signed any deal with Pakistan involving any sort of military supply, the Saudis have ALWAYS pulled out.

They've proven to be extremely unreliable.

Some of it is secondary to wariness of Iranian sympathizers in the region. These countries cannot afford the military supplies without foreign financing.

I still remember the whole "Saudis are buying Al-khalid tanks!" BS that most people on PDF were shouting more than a decade ago. Then that became "Saufis are buying JF-17s for their National Guard!", and now this.

Saudis spend multi billions on western arms not because they may be better but with them come security support. However Iran has pulled that illusion down so how they move forward is anyone's to guess.

tbh, the issue with the Libya, Sudan et al. al news was that it was reported by a single source (Reuters with, let's say, very hands-free editorial oversight on the authors) and now, the cancellation is coming from the same source.

Otherwise, no one else could verify the reports.

They will double down on US security guarantees, even though the US has shown their guarantees are only real when it comes to supporting Israel, and that they'll abandon the Arabs if they have to.
