Armoured personnel carriers, other vehicles handed over to police in several KP districts

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Tuesday handed over armoured personnel carriers (APCs), forklift trucks, single and double cabin vehicles and motorcycles along with other equipment to the district police officers and heads of police units to deal with terrorism and unrest.
The handover ceremony was held at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines here, with Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed distributing vehicles, according to an official statement.
Mr Hameed also reviewed the operational capabilities of the armoured vehicles, double cabins and fork lifters and got necessary briefings from officials. Additional IGPs, DIGs and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
The statement said that under the effective and public-friendly policing policy in the province, IGP KP handed over the keys of modern Dragon APCs, bulletproof vehicles, single and double cabin vehicles, forklift trucks and motorcycles to the district police officers to better deal with terrorist threats and protect the lives of police personnel.
Initiative to help counter terrorism, unrest, says IGP
“In order to effectively respond to terrorist attacks and to make the movement of troops in high-risk areas easier and safer, highly advanced Dragon APCs have been handed over to Tank, Hangu and Upper Swat, while other APCs have been handed over to Upper Dir and Mansehra.”
