Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

In a close, friendly meeting with the President of the largest chamber of commerce in Pakistan today, a small focused discussion took place as a side items towards Saudi-Pakistan defense agreement.

He outlined that he was invited by the Saudi Commercial attaché to prepare business and labor proposals to be presented to the Saudi embassy within a few weeks. He specifically mentioned that at this time, he is in touch with 3 different Arab countries. They all want Pakistani labor primarily and labor from Muslim nations, but the trust from Indian labor has eroded.

He also said that these governments due to this WAPAN pact related considerations, think that integrating Pakistani labor and culture within their system is now needed so to allow easy integration of both societies. He cited an example of similar actions taken by the USA back in the late 90's allowing mass Indian migration to the US hoping they will form a defense partnership against China but India bailed out after taking the US jobs and economic help.

What happened to us was just like 71.......We took a beating and in the end had to ring up Abbu G Trump sahb.

7-0......?.....the Indians totally intimidated us and blatantly attacked us. India losing 7 Rafales is what they calculated and factored in their calculations.

Its like somebody saying we won the 71 war......
We lost 71 war due to the Bengalis no longer supporting us. It would have been a meaningless fight to the death for the 93k soldiers in Bengal against the Bengalis people mukhti bahini and indian forces. Bangladesh was always meant to separate from us. Trump apke abbu honge . Did you even follow what happened. On the morning of 10th may do you remember colonfal sufiya Qureshi of the indian army said we are ready for a ceasefire and damage has been reported at bhuj adampur pathankot Bathinda station udampur. Nice cope to calculate loosing 7 warplanes everytime you attack.just need 5 missions and the rafale fleet gone. Great air force btw against a much smaller enemy . The truth is India got humiliated and Pakistan emerged triumphant as seen on the world stage. There is absolutely no space for debate or arguing regarding the winner of this short war. What could be argued is in which domains Pakistan could have performed even better like air defense.

Arabs have done great sin by inviting American bases in their regions.

The same bases they think are there for protection - at given time - could turn against them

The media and many commentators are focusing on the nuclear angle, I personally think this is a very very small part of this defence pact.

Everyone knew before, end game nukes were always available to SA in an existential crisis the ambiguity around that did its job. What IMO changes here is a economic, diplomatic and military commitment to align polices and military structure to deal with any aggression.

Announcing it is important as SA tells the US and western states we are diversifying (getting closer to the Chinese camp) and also to any potential aggressors we mean business. For Pak it means they can put to practise what they are very good at, taking on complex and conventionally challenging threats.

Next few years if we start to see procurement of similar systems military hardware we will know they are serious and this isn't some bluff.

To be effective both countries need logistics and equipment set up and ready to use, like a defencive force.

I hope they dont invite any further countries yet, in long term would be great to see Turkey join, Iran too.

By doing a deal with Pakistan, Saudi Arabia also gets indirect support of China. As china stated they would back Pakistan, during our recent conflict with india.

Let’s hope it doesn’t another OIC type BS. Too many unwilling members and conflicting priorities and interests.

Saudi Arabia is done with Israel. In the coming weeks and months they will become more vocal against their hostility against Israel now that they have the backing of Pakistan. Other OIC nations will follow Riyadh.

Both Pakistan and Saudi are China's good buddies, I think this agreement will have a very positive impact in the Middle East.

A good take on things

I do believe the future of this pact, should be air force centric with a view of building a common expeditionary force that can be redeployed where ever it is required.

The twitter post, however seems to suggest a model where Saudi provides funding and all projects are done in Pakistan. That wont work, there will have to be give and take otherwise nothing will last. Lets see.
