As I see the mess that is the Arab world, the country that most fulfills our needs is Qatar. It needs to be defended not just against Israel, but also against the Abraham Accord Arab traitors. While absolutely no fan of this Pakistani government, they have called out clearly the threat Israel poses, and did enough for Iran, even though it would upset the US.

It works like a hand in glove ; Pakistan defends Qatar, and in return gets the defence contracts and financial support it needs while steering clear of Israel's vassal Arab states. Qatar has enough resources to soften any kickback from the Arabs.

How do you think our country has managed to survive economically while others in the region have defaulted? Why is it that whenever our foreign reserves hit dangerously low levels, fresh funds suddenly flow in from the GCC? Why did the Saudi Foreign Minister make it a point to visit Nur Khan Airbase just eight hours after it was struck in May? And who do you think orchestrated the high-profile Saudi FM–Trump meeting in Washington ?
 
Pakistan and Saudi Arabic to collaborate on research and development of military aircraft (both manned and unmanned) and joint production of military equipment, including missiles, drones, fighter jets and armoured vehicles as part of the mutual defence agreement signed today.

At this point Qatar should form a similar Emirates with Saudis like the UAE... They would be better off like that than to appease their own bully
 
Strategically this has some major implications

1) Pakistan in the past was indirectly part of the Middle Eastern security dynamic, now we are directly involved in it
2) Pakistan forces need to treat Israel as a direct and close (not indirect or distant) threat
3) This greatly complicates relations with Iran
4) Also complicates relations with US, as we are now effectively their rival in helping Saudi
5) Saudi relations with India now complicated. Assuming it truly is a mutual pact, attacking Pakistan will be seen as an attack on Saudi, with all the implications that involves
6) Expect a massive western and Israeli propaganda effort against our nuclear programme
7) Egypt has effectively been sidelined as the leading Middle Eastern military power

Logical idea, but too much history there, maybe just make GCC closer knit and a form of NATO?

Egypt has been continuously making the worst possible military procurements out of all GCC states... My God how can one country be so blind to how they are being manipulated... I wonder how the common knowledgeable Egyptian feels about the current status of their military... A dismal sight.. A harsh jolt just waiting to go through them...

Yes, Saudi rightly guessed a country that cannot even arm its F-16s with AMRAAMs or its Rafales with Meteors can play little role in defending it
