Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

So we’re trying to open a strait for our oil shipping that was already open before the US and Saudis shenanigans started great All this proved the most powerful military proving US and Arabs is just how ineffective they’ve been in the Bab-Al- Mandab US actually are. Maybe talks with Houthis may be a better option for us?
can Islamabad please after this crisis switch to Iran completing Iran pipeline this Arab and Iranian rivalry ain’t our problem anymore. It’s so frustrating our planners didn’t see a crisis in this coming in this unstable part of the world. and had no alternative plans getting oil from another country.

Someone has already pointed your illogical reasoning w.r.t totally relying on Iran, but I wanna ask you, when you said Pakistan didn't make any alternative plans, who do you think would've provided Pakistan oil on deferred payments or on credit beside Saudia, Kuwait, Uae and Qatar?

Houthi spokesman denies Bab al-Mandab closure, says naval blockade targets Saudi Arabia only

Yemen’s Houthi movement has denied that it has shut down the strategic Bab al-Mandab strait, stating that its naval operations are strictly limited to a targeted blockade against Saudi Arabia, Al Jazeera reports.

Mohammed Abdul Salam, the chief negotiator and spokesperson for the group, dismissed claims of a full waterway shutdown in a post on X.

“There is no closure of the Bab al-Mandab Strait as some promote,” he writes.

“The position of Yemen, as announced by the Yemeni armed forces, is limited to a maritime blockade that only affects the Saudi side, in response to its siege of Yemen and its refusal to accept any fair approach to a solution that guarantees the security, sovereignty and independence of the Yemeni people."

Looks like someone got the message

What a bucket full of crap ! Bottom lines is soH is closed and Bab Al Mandeb is under threat... Pakistan needs to secure her oil supply...Iran , Saudi and GCC can go to hell.... Pakistan is a regional power, no pussyfooting and no need to overanalyze things.... it's our moral obligation and strategic responsibility to keep these straits open to the best of our ability....Iran is a neighbour and we wish him well , however we have negligible economic interest with her and we don't trust her long term strategic trajectory.....we can't be held hostage by her proxies in Pakistan.

Omg … 😦

Who could have foreseen this large Tribal militia who have made a mockery of the powerful US military from re-entering the Red Sea.. frray……oh yes nothing a few days of billion pound a day bombing campaign by our Pakistan Navy cant solve … right?

Pakistan had no plan.

Restart the Iran pipeline. It’s an emergency… do it now.

Shipping oil from supplier who now can not get its oil out due the Iranian and Houthis blockade.

Learn from other oil importing countries don’t just rely on one supplier

Iran don't provide on credits or on deferred payments. Do you understand that? And whole lot of other issues like for one building that pipeline with Iran would have invited sanctions on Pakistan by USA and a earned a definite spot on FATF blacklist. Do you think just to get that pipeline or oil, Pakistan would be suffering economically in other ways?
