Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

India is indeed 'checkmated' as I keep quoting @RajaBaja from a few days ago. There is no sugar coating that Pakistan, China and Saudi Arabia (and more!) are on one side while India is on another side.
Trump has left the door open, India could just agree to what America wants and bingo, Pakistan is back in the dog house, Saudi might cool off.

Obviously the longer it goes on, the more pain it will be

Do you seriously think there is no brain drain in Pakistan?

My late father was a teacher. One of his student got the Gold Medal in Space Science from Punjab University in the 1st Space Science batch from PU, but had to divert to computer science due to Job issues. He is now settled in Austria.

One other student was an amazing surgeon. He created many new ground breaking surgical techniques. But he himself told me and my father on a lunch in 2003 that he would have loved to do research work but he couldn't bcz he was not being supported by the govt. Later he went to KSA.
Exceptions don't make the rules ... people leave their countries to graze in greener pastures.... it's selfish human nature....98% of the expats were liability not an asset.....

When I look at my class of MBBS almost half of my class is sitting abroad. So plz forgive me if I don't see this as an exception and more like a trend. Although Doctors are one the highest earning people in Pak. But there are a lot of issues that money alone cannot solve rather money is the main cause of these issues. Security is one of many.

We are churning out more doctors than we can accommodate....glad that you are doing well and hope you are sending some money back home.

yeah , the preference for Pakistani MBBS graduates is as below :

1. US or UK.
1.1 if you have money, the top target is USMLE and the match
1.2 if you have less money or just dont want to bother with match, then give PLAB and work in UK.
2. Gulf.
2.1 Those who pass USMLE or PLAB can get hired in GCC.
2.2 if you specialize in Pakistan uptill the "Registrar" level, then you can get really great pay jobs in GCC.
3. Look for unique opportunities outside US/UK/Canada, eg once upon a time Pakistani doctors were able to get jobs in Ireland.
4. Open your own clinic in Pakistan
5. Work as a doctor at someone else hospital and clinic in urban city.
6. Work as doctor in rural area (nobody wants to do this, the amount of ghost doctors and trickery at those posted in rural areas is sad.)

There is such a huge brain drain from medical field where the best either go abroad themselves or are headhunter by GCC.

And that's a significant enough reason to bind them.

That takes guts and self-confidence.

That's the point, major Nations can take major decisions
Then that's a fact based application scenario. It's different for everyone. China was once in India's shoes and chose to do business with the west to become the world's factory. It wasn't all roses in the beginning. This was after the west supported the anti communist faction in the Chinese civil war which caused millions of deaths.
If you do not think there is a moral position to take then you are morally on a different plane.

That's kind of a spiritual or metaphysical separation.
My intention was to show the inaction of nations, why doesn't the anti western faction band together then? Talk is cheap.
I'm not even going into the morality part. Israel is responsible for a lot of things and it's deplorable what they're doing in Gaza right now. The rules of war warrant proportional response and the threshold of that has been passed.
One huge faction of the world is revolted to their core, and you have any deer shrugging their shoulders saying Israel is quite useful for us.

Ok.

That's a neat way to demonstrate you guys are different from the rest, if you are indifferent to this, watch the world being indifferent to you
There has always been a difference between Geopolitics and Realpolitik. This statement is very true - one death is a tragedy and millions a statistic. Till yesterday everything in the Middle East was okay but as soon as Israel bombed Qatar the ME nations woke up from a a slumber panicking what if they're next.

The winner will always rewrite history according to his agenda. This is just the truth of our world.

The world is already indifferent to everyone who is not them. Nations band together to protect their own interests it is rarely to protect another nation's interests.

Almost every nation has skeleton in their closet.

Although we're getting off track on this thread discussing brain drain and stuff, I'll point out one thing that a lot of people don't seem to understand. No one can deny that Pakistan's economy is stunted, and the country is suffering from mass poverty. The vast bulk of the 250 million population is living below the poverty line, if we consider poverty based on international standards.

If Pakistan's economy had grown at the same rate as China's between 1980 to 2025, Pakistan's economy would have been $3.88 TRILLION today, instead of $400 billion. Pakistan would have been a very prosperous country and, yes, the military budget would have been a lot larger. Given Pakistan's limitations I firmly believe that the economy would certainly have been $1.6 TRILLION, 4 times what it is now.

Instead of concentrating on economic growth, like China, Pakistan's rulers preferred to play international strategic games with USSR and USA.

So, instead of a $1.6 trillion economy we're sitting on a $400 billion economy. We're effectively losing $1.2 trillion is yearly productivity because of corruption and mismanagement.

People don't consider what Pakistan could have been. They think that patriotism requires them to say that everything is fine as it is.

Yes sir. There are 4 countries READY to sign! 2 more told us they were ready on day 2 of Pak-Saudi signing ceremony. This is truly an amazing opportunity Pakistan has been given by the divine to rise!

I would caution against signing everyone in and later, deal with Arab politics and VETO options when time comes for action. I think Pak+Saudia+UAE+Qatar makes a good block. Turkey might have other issues due to NATO laws in joining another nation for defense? I don't know.

I like the idea of Pak + Saudi + Qatar

UAE is a wild card potential, but requires significant geopolitical realignment (e.g. ending ties with Israel and begin limiting ties with India), detoxifying from Mossad, before joining such a pact.

However, I think with the right steps and how world events are progressing it’s a real possibility someday, especially as Pakistan’s economy and military strengthens.

I ask again
Are you ready to risk your nation and people against Israel
You are seeing already Israel is military super power in this region
What have you signed up for ?
Defending Saudi ..
Saudi has two enemies
Israel and Iran
You ready for this commitment

What do you want from us?
More remittance?
A Thank you for your service?

Let me know and I'll try to have it arranged.
Whoever can’t be picked by black vigo and subjugated is a liability of the cost centre department, it’s beneficiaries and its cheerleaders.

Qatar is in deep discussions with the US to renew its defense pact after the Israeli attack..

Go figure..
