Huawei’s repair centre inaugurated in Islamabad​

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Thursday inaugurated Huawei’s national-level Spare Parts Repair Centre in Islamabad to build local repair capacity, reduce reliance on overseas services, and strengthen Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure.

Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun was also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication said that Digital Nation Pakistan is built on the vision of developing a skilled, future-ready workforce that can compete and create value in global markets. She emphasised that Pakistan is moving decisively from being a consumer of technology to becoming a creator, builder and exporter of digital solutions, powered by the skills and innovation of its people.

The Minister said that the establishment of the Repair Centre represents an important step in strengthening Pakistan’s digital and telecom ecosystem, while creating greater local capacity and expertise. She appreciated Huawei’s investment in Pakistan and its commitment to knowledge transfer and capacity building, noting that such partnerships strengthen the resilience of the country’s telecom infrastructure and contribute to a more capable, connected and digitally empowered Pakistan.

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading connectivity provider from JazzWorld, has successfully deployed Pakistan’s first and highest-capacity 15.1 Gbps microwave link over a single antenna, significantly enhancing its backhaul infrastructure to support the growing demands of its network.

The milestone strengthens a critical layer of network infrastructure: high-capacity backhaul that carries increasing volumes of data from mobile sites into the wider network. The deployment utilizes a Super Dual Band configuration on a single high-efficiency antenna based on Huawei Technologies’ microwave platform, enabling greater data throughput while optimizing infrastructure requirements. The achievement demonstrates Jazz’s continued investment in building a future-ready transport network across both fiber and microwave infrastructure to support the evolving requirements of 4G and 5G connectivity.
