Huawei’s repair centre inaugurated in Islamabad​

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Thursday inaugurated Huawei’s national-level Spare Parts Repair Centre in Islamabad to build local repair capacity, reduce reliance on overseas services, and strengthen Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure.

Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun was also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication said that Digital Nation Pakistan is built on the vision of developing a skilled, future-ready workforce that can compete and create value in global markets. She emphasised that Pakistan is moving decisively from being a consumer of technology to becoming a creator, builder and exporter of digital solutions, powered by the skills and innovation of its people.

The Minister said that the establishment of the Repair Centre represents an important step in strengthening Pakistan’s digital and telecom ecosystem, while creating greater local capacity and expertise. She appreciated Huawei’s investment in Pakistan and its commitment to knowledge transfer and capacity building, noting that such partnerships strengthen the resilience of the country’s telecom infrastructure and contribute to a more capable, connected and digitally empowered Pakistan.

Jazz Enhances Backhaul Infrastructure with Pakistan’s First and Highest-Capacity 15.1 Gbps Microwave Link​

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading connectivity provider from JazzWorld, has successfully deployed Pakistan’s first and highest-capacity 15.1 Gbps microwave link over a single antenna, significantly enhancing its backhaul infrastructure to support the growing demands of its network.

The milestone strengthens a critical layer of network infrastructure: high-capacity backhaul that carries increasing volumes of data from mobile sites into the wider network. The deployment utilizes a Super Dual Band configuration on a single high-efficiency antenna based on Huawei Technologies’ microwave platform, enabling greater data throughput while optimizing infrastructure requirements. The achievement demonstrates Jazz’s continued investment in building a future-ready transport network across both fiber and microwave infrastructure to support the evolving requirements of 4G and 5G connectivity.

The deployment combines multiple carrier outdoor units on a single antenna instead of separate dishes, increasing capacity while minimizing hardware requirements. This solution will also reduce the tower footprint, making it particularly valuable at dense and space-constrained locations.

Huawei urged to explore R&D centre in Pakistan​

IT minister highlights Islamabad support centre’s role in global ICT services, calls for greater investment and skills development

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has urged Huawei to expand investment and knowledge transfer in Pakistan and explore establishing a research and development (R&D) centre in the country.

The minister made the remarks during a visit to Huawei’s Global Support Center (GSC) in Islamabad, where she was briefed on its operations and met Pakistani engineers providing ICT services to international customers, according to APP.

Khawaja said the facility demonstrated Pakistan’s potential to become a hub for technology and IT-enabled services, with local professionals delivering digital services to overseas markets from within the country.


She also highlighted Huawei’s commitment to train 300,000 young Pakistanis in ICT skills under a training partnership agreed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China.

The minister called for stronger cooperation between the government, industry and academia to develop a technology talent pipeline and connect Pakistani professionals with international opportunities.

She also urged Huawei to expand its technical capacity-building efforts through ICT academies, mentoring and knowledge transfer, while exploring further investment in the country.

Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun said the company was working to strengthen local technical expertise and create opportunities for Pakistani professionals to participate in the global digital economy.


Huawei’s Islamabad GSC provides remote technical support, network operations, service assurance and other ICT services to international customers.
