Pakistan vows to defend Saudi Arabia against Iran-backed Houthis by ‘whatever means’

Since you used the word "apologists", let me be clear, I don't justify Fauji overthrow etc. (I have never said here that I am happy with the prevailing situation) nor do I justify IK's incarceration and believe he should be freed.
Fair - my apologies for implying you’re an apologist for the Fauj.

I am an apologist for the institution to an extent, but not for the individual personalities.

Our fauj is Pakistan. I cherish it for what that represents. Also, on account of my personal association with it, I have kept a constant view of it despite the changing political landscape.

Like a few here, I have seen the Bhutto era, Zia's tenure, MRD movement, dawn of democracy and everything since then and for good or bad, the one constant in many ways has been this fauj which has been familiar to me and predictable. However, I don't expect others here to understand, agree, or support me in the way I look at things.

Last, as always, I appreciate you.

I understand the distinction you’re making. To some degree, irrespective of nationality, most of us here who don’t glamorize war and/or the lethality of weapon systems, make that same distinction.

I should probably be clearer that my criticism of the Fauj is specific to its leadership and their policies.

I guess your leading English newspaper is also “frothing at the mouth”

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Putting an editorial in - does not change your false equivalence of facts and general copping out on your so called "facts".

The only thing you can bring to your Houthi boogeyman is what is potentially a valid view of "dont get involved" due to Houthi's being entrenched in their territory - and instead says Pakistan focus on defending KSA and not offensive operations.

So - what it does affirm is that not only are you both ignorant and hollow in your arguments - you dont even bother to read beyond the title for your sources.
Which means the level of your input is tik tok comment section at best.

weapons should be last resort.

yemen youthi is extremely poor, economy should be first tool to end the war.

cheaper and easier.

Saudi Arabia got involved in Yemens internal conflict in 2015 and has been at war with the Houthis ever since.

So this is clearly not just a pre-existing conflict, but also an OFFENSIVE war of choice initiated BY Saudi Arabia - Pakistan has no obligation under any pact to enter this conflict against the Houthis.
I absolutely agree - but the issue isn't so much whether the obligation is through the declared mechanism of the pact but through overall "relationship" based on the donor-client dynamic that exists with the Saudis.

Pakistan already contributes manpower in droves for military purposes in KSA - this was done earlier through alternative means in 2015 as well.

As such, Pakistan has been able to do what has made sense for its interests. In 2015, under intense pressure from the Saudis and Emeratis, Pakistan did not enter the fray in Yemen. Why do we think Pakistan will do so now? The trilateral defense pact is defensive in nature, it means Pakistan will help solidify the home-front for the Saudis and that is what Pakistan has been doing and not just now, but since the early 80s.
I believe (and happy to be proven wrong) but there were plenty of reports on Pakistan either offering or at least standing aside for recruitment events in Pakistan.

After all, Iran conducts its own within the particular communities.

Unfortunately - religion is toilet paper for most muslims in which they can wipe their bums clean to show it as shiny .
True, people will justify every and any Debauchery for their sect/religion, back when Islam first got revealed it makes dishonorable people from mecca more honorable, regardless of their kin and clan and other affiliations, but today its the opposite effect, if my Mullah or imam doing it, its all good but if your is doing it than you are zionists or Kaffir or murtad, Shia's have learn this one thing, just say catchy words like Zionists supporters or ISIS supporters then whatever we do becomes all halal, same with certain Sunni's, What an absolute shit show people (Muslims) has turn Islam into.

Equating with Israel is not anyone's exclusive "insult" - has been used politically and otherwise for a very long time.
