Quite a few area exist which can host water reservoir
one in balochistan is a vast vast desert, But challenging terrain to transport extra flood to Balochistan

The long desert stretch in Sindh is another candidate for artificial lake

For some of these you just need a pipe to divert water to these desert zone
One zone is near afghan-pakistan border massive desert area

Each year 10+ MAF of water flows into the Arabian Sea. This is criminal.

I think we all know that at least some water must go to the Arabian Sea to prevent the sea encroaching and destroying the land. Ask those in lower Sindh.

But, yes, something needs to be done about harvesting the increasing rainfall in Pakistan; maybe Mother Nature is out to rescue Pakistan if we allow her.

Plans aplenty in Pakistan. No concrete action

Kalabagh Dam isnt happening for multiple reasons. One of them is the usual poor treatment of KPK where hydel payments are always 10 years behind schedule. But biggest problem with the dams is the canals that are taken out of them for irrigation , overwhelmingly in Punjab. This means Sindh loses the water that it was originally getting in the rivers.

This is why for electrical generation and some flood control, alternative dams are being built in KPK, Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas, but whose water cannot be used for irrigation canals.

There are those on the forum who justify the shabby treatment of smaller provinces in various ways, such as claiming better ROI from Punjab rather allegedly "backward barbaric vile" people living in the smaller provinces, but that is the wrong approach and an example of what's wrong with Pakistan in the first place.

The video I posted above, shows some people are working to harvest water using old, empty wells and lots of wells have been made functional. Then there is a 'Teacher Usman' channel guy who works in Azad Kashmir and Islamabad area creating ponds and has been successful in creating many ponds to help people. People are doing on their own but it needs to be done on the national level, and large level as India is back to its using water as weapon much like what Nehru tried in late 40s leading to the need for the Indus Water Treaty of 1960.
Pakistan does have one advantage: Most people living along rivers and in a relatively narrow, long belt on the eastern side of Pakistan to make water management a bit easier and with the increasing rain every year, Mother Nature may turn even Baluchistan's barren land to arable land.

Holland is vulnerable due to it being below sea level in certain coastal areas.

Netherworlds understand and undertook huge infrastructure projects in the 1950s . Today they have some of the best companies in large engineering and construction in controlling sea and rain water floods by building huge canals Dams etc. linked in together working together Pakistanis can learn from their expertise. I’m sure.

Yes of course

Rain exposes river bank encroachments

Water surged into urban centres, submerging low-lying areas and exposing systemic planning failures

RAWALPINDI: The recent monsoon downpour in Rawalpindi and Islamabad resulted in widespread flooding, significant property damage, and loss of life. Authorities have identified illegal construction on natural water channels as the primary cause.

Investigations confirmed that water passages in residential areas, greenbelts, open fields, and private housing societies were obstructed or altered.

Without proper drainage infrastructure, the water surged into urban centres, submerging low-lying areas and exposing systemic planning failures. In response, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has initiated a joint task force involving the Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards, the Pakistan Army, and other departments. A high-level meeting, chaired by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, stressed immediate enforcement of existing laws and the removal of encroachments along rivers.

The meeting resolved to restore natural water flow routes and enforce "Right of Way" laws to prevent future disasters.

Officials acknowledged that poor planning, blocked stormwater drains, and unauthorised land development contributed directly to the crisis. Authorities pledged to rehabilitate flood-prone areas and ensure that natural waterways remain unobstructed, thus avoiding repeat scenarios of flood-induced destruction.

I think you don't know that water flowing into the sea is necessary to keep lower Sindh's land fertile.

The images I have seen in Sindh , water channel has very low water flow and sea and river have ample distance & elevation difference

In my head I had a vision of Raging sea trying to get into Sindh and Raging River Indus pushing back sea water in a massive collision of water

However,

The sea is quite far The river channel which meets sea is very very weak it has no massive strength to push back sea

Reality is sea is just too far away and has no interest to move up the land

Inner Land is higher ground sea level is lower
Picture likely showing 30-40 km from air

Misconception exist that mighty Indus River is pushing back Big waves of sea, the reality is the flow that reaches sea is very weak , trickle of water no power to push sea back

This exit point appears to be elevated above sea level as you can see sea is not moving above these lands

Sea will only climb up if global sea level rises !!

Right now the sea sits nice and easy far far away , and a weak water flow flows into sea mixing with it

Ocean just does not flows into Land which is elevated above sea level
some beach erosion can be countered with some engineering

However PPP don't want Kala Bagh dam they think Sea will climb up the higher land for some reason and flood Sindh

No one can fix PPP Stunted brain

PPP siyasat runs on idea , Sindh will lose water without PPP

This small area in red is where Indus fall into sea
All the big area in yellow , indus river makes no influence sea level here

When I see floods and droughts and load shedding in Pakistan

These are the posts I remember the most
