Bro get your cholesterol tested if you in your 40’s.

Be very careful with this food.

I am in my early 20s bro. Age doesn't matter if you keep exercising regularly.
Yaar I know some of my colleagues who for various reasons got diabetes or heart disease or cancer and whatnot.

Prevention starts early.

First thing toward that is to gradually change your diet, cuz your other life stressors won’t go away but only increase.

Animal fat isn't bad. They are actually healthy. What is bad are seed based oils.

Couldn't wait to stuff my face with that stuff this winter with some soft naan.
Oh bhai, I got three doctors in my family here in the UK…….you can ask me what’s goin on with our community health right here.

Our heart size about half the size of western people’s heart and the veins are correspondingly far narrower.

You start eating animal fat/ butter/ ghee/ mitthai etc……..taadda fir Allah he hafiz hae.

It is probably because they tend to lead sedentary lifestyles. Along with a high-calorie diet, these habits do contribute to diabetes. It is quite common over here in BD as well.

Yes cause South Asians eat a carb-heavy diet and dont burn all those calories. Incorporate loads of protein and start lifting.

Saadi Dilli and Lucknow are proper culinary capitals for muslim food.

Kebabs to biriyanis, sab apna ae, Indian.

They do peshawar biriani with akhroats, badaams and what not... kashmiris put green apples and kishmish etc... horrible. They should stick to tabak maz and ghoshtabas, yakhnis etc
Biryani is pure mainland india dish !
1.Hyderabadi : kacche gosht ki
.Lucknowi : pakki yakhni ki
3.Ambur ( a hidden gem half way b/w Bangalore and chennai)
4.Kolkata : A variant of Lucknowi but quite distinct on its own

Rest are just imitations.

You can eat it once every few months cuz it’s unhealthy with a lotta animal fat plus oil n bone marrow etc.

I only make it every third month and use a fraction of the oil and no marrow.

You start eatin that daily, yous lookin at a massive heart attack quick!
Nihari is not to be taken everyday..
However you can have paya every day in winters.

Oh bhai Pashto people have their first heart attack at 55! And that’s nowadays!

Years ago they used to have their first heart attack at 50!

Animal fat is bad news.

Sarson Ka Saag:

While Makki ki roti is typically served with Sarson Ka Saag, it tastes good with any leafy vegetable curry such as Spinach or Fenugreek. It might be along with some pickles, too. Makki ki roti is dense and difficult to digest. Carom seeds/Ajwain are added to the maize flour to aid digestion. Cilantro can also be added to the flour of the corn before kneading the roti dough.

Traditionally, a lot of ghee is added to this bread when it is cooked. In the end, the slightly crisp Makki ki roti is topped with a spoonful of homemade butter and served with Sarson ka saag, salad, and buttermilk.

Bone broth (produced over several hours) is an expensive hipster food.

I love bone broth and, yes @Sharma Ji , I add cloves, peppercorns, and raw almonds to it, lol. Don't knock it til you've tried it, especially in winter.

What's the desi name for this bone broth thing ?

I like sucking the marrow from mutton ki haddis in quormas.

Saag is the bee's knees.. cant wait to go home around christmas time for some proper saag goodness. My folks are pure veggies but saag is so versatile, you can chuck a seekh or tikka of some sort in it to make it meaty, works like a charm.

My mom used to make it and I think it was called 'haddi ka soup' or something, don't remember. Especially recommended in pregnancy, sickness and just generally a nutrient rich soup on cold days.

If you have the time, you can spend all day (up to 12 hours) making it, but I just buy it from the store and heat it on the stove (not microwave) adding almonds, cloves and peppercorns.

It's pretty big in Western and Chinese culture also because stores sell varieties with ginger and Chinese spices.

I know they do health and beefing up workout supplements with bone powder but didn't know of this.

More a granny's remedy than an actual culinary thing, I gather ?

Will try keep an eye out.

It is a traditional item but gone trendy and expensive due to popularity with the hipster and fitness crowd. It is not a foodie item, more of a fitness and wellness item.
