Pakistan's Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircrafts

Not since Marg Bar Sarmachar. A lot of assets due for retirement are going to be instead reassigned to the south west. The stability and frankly sanity of the Iranian regime is an open question.
I wonder if the PAF will gradually reinforce the southwest with F-16s, especially if it keeps adding J-10CEs, JF-17Cs, and - possibly - J-31s to handle the east.

In 2006, Pakistan signed a contract with the Chinese firm “Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC)” for the development and construction of 4 AWACS airplanes, with the code name ZDK-03 Karakoram Eagle, to be delivered in 2008. Their name comes from the acronym of the constructing firm and reads as “Dian Zhong Ke”, while the number “3” represents the third AWACS airplanes acquired by that firm, with the other two being KJ-2000 andKJ-200.

In the beginning of 2006, China was already carrying out tests of the ZDK-03, based on Y-8 aircraft. The first official presentation took place in November 2010 at the Shaanxi Aircraft Company facilities, while at the beginning of 2011, the aerial tests of the system started, from both sides. The deliverance of the first plane (s/n 11-001) to the Pakistani side was done on November 2011. The second and third aircrafts were delivered in December of the same year.

This order from Pakistan was the first successful contract for a 100% Chinese airborne early warning system. Indeed, all the electronic system, the AESA radar including and the fast processing CPUs, were Chinese made.

The rumours (which at this stage can only be those, since we have no concrete proposal, just rough estimates) is that they hope to have three wings of aircraft plus supporting elements in the region. So I think thats where we are going towards. Intially, F7PG and Mirages, with F16 and Blk 1 Thunders. I suspect the ZDK-03 will also be sent there.

it make sense to place F7PG, mirage rose 2/3 and JFT blk1 with KE03 to defend that border
is it confirmed now?

Jf-17 blk1s are already western most, no. 28 and Smugli and no. 26 at Peshawar. There was talk of a new base in Baluchistan, don't know what became of that.

I have this one question, If PAF had the money that IAF has, how would the money be utilized considering the current situation in the Middle East and Central Asia, i have always been keen to understand the PAF ideology of selecting a balanced platform with limited funds and the habit of seeing far in the future, which unfortunately is not the case with our IAF.

The PAF would have purchased its full wishlist of 180 F-16s , topped it off with a Eurofighter or Rafale while keeping the JF-17 to replace everything else.

Today they would still have the AWACS element but probably a lot more SAMs and transport elements.

But in general the stance would not be different - its not just about money to purchase but sustainability as well. Not just in terms of the equipment but also in terms of personnel and infrastructure. Have a look on how much the IAF has to spend there and the budgets will become clearer - IAF still does a decent job considering the mills around its neck due to legacy decisions.

A good economy would have put Pakistan easily in the good books of Middle Eastern countries, the money part would have enabled Pakistan to do joint ventures and projects while keeping the lion's share in terms of Technology and Business part.
Somewhere in my mind I still feel that the Pakistan Air Force isn't comfortable with the Chinese jets, it may not be like that, but it is just my observation, they like Western equipment more for its reliability and output in critical situations.

I would say , PAF would have bought 100s of mirage 2000-5mk2 in 90s with local production

moving forward, would still have JFT but would have fast tracked the blk3
, should have still bought j10CP much earlier and in numbers.

Saab 2000 AEW would have been bought in numbers

100+ blk 52+ F16 would have been acquired in 2000s

A400 would have been bought in numbers and with some local production

Italian LIFT would have been integrated 10 years ago

Air defense command with long range missiles would have been established 5 years earlier

by and large most of the equipment remains the same, time line would have been different

my 2 cents
