Pakistan's Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircrafts

You're claiming that Pakistan may get 2 additional EriEye AWACS, so its burden upon you prove otherwise, (where can you get this Information?) if you not providing SOURCE than I think you're firring empty shot in a thin air

Mr. when it comes to Sweden even, they keep most things secret when it comes to dealing with us. If we are buying two additional than you would only hear about them when at least one is delivered to us or both.

Maybe PAF crews are already operating them for rsaf .....just saying

Don’t care much about the video source but the equipment from KJ-700 has been very interesting to the PAF.
wasn't the KJ-700 just recently inducted? The PAF already has access to the plane?

But according to PAF it was the platform ie the ac which was the prob n not the equipment installed.....
As the cost per hr of flying had become prohibitive plus the ac was based on an old Soviet design which had gone past its use by date n had become outdated......specially while PAF had a awacs based on saab ac which was more advanced n economical......their was talk of even installing the equipment onto a couple of narrow body jet powered ac that PAF is flying.
So this whole thing is perplexing to say the least....maybe PAF has discovered a few oil wells
It was the platform - and also Radar performance in certain cases.

Im not sure if pilot experience will improve but electronics will likely be recycled or binned

If you are right and it was the planes which were the real issue, then yes how converting them into EW platforms will resolve that. That is a good point.

You know, its surprising how much people expected of them, the package was 280m, around 70m an aircraft. Includes a brand new airframe- the radar and equipment would have made up pennies of that number.

i wonder what the rationale was behind their procurement though. Perhaps the PAF wanted them to cover the western border for a relatively low cost, or even the sea, allowing the horizon's to focus on the east

We didn't had SAAB in enough numbers and few other issues also we didn't had data link to connect JF-17 with SAAB back then. Also, lastly geo strategic reasons of keeping China happy.

there is no issues with linking jf-17's or even j-10s with erieyes, saab designed them from the ground up to enable flexibility. Im sure there is some limitation however now in other areas (perhaps the diversity of assets? or tdl's etc) so that now the PAF is using mobile GCS's which link everything together.

By Default Saab comes with Link-16 TDL. J-Series are using homegrown Link-17 TDL. SAAB doesnt have hardware & software onboard to process customized Link-17 or a translator that converts Link-16 to Link-17 conversion in real time. Hence GCS comes into the picture.

American Examples: BACN

Saab itself says that the Erieye was designed for proprietary TDLs; meaning, it can work with anything the end-user requires. Moreover, Saab also says that if the end-user lacks their own TDL, then Saab will provide its own in-house solution.

The issue in the earlier days was whether the Erieye can manage multiple TDLs at the same time. This is where a potential trade-off between Link-16 and Link-17 came up for a time, but the market resolved this issue.

There are basically solutions on the market now that will allow a single special mission platform to support multiple TDLs at a fairly deep level. Leonardo and MilSOFT were the big ones who had offered this solution to the PAF back in 2016 or 2017.
