In Latest Blow To European Democracy, Judge Rules Marine Le Pen Ineligible To Run For President In 2027​


Update (0845ET): Messages of support poured in for Le Pen shortly after her conviction, with the Kremlin and Hungary’s populist leader Viktor Orban among the first to weigh in.

As a reminder, Le Pen led in the polls...

The move is the latest attack on democracy in the EU, with judges increasingly deciding elections in Europe.

Le Pen has also been sentenced to four years in prison, with two years suspended.

A court in France has found Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Unity party, and eight other MEPs "guilty" of embezzling EU funds. The main point of this quickly concocted judgment is to eliminate the leader of one of France's largest parties ahead of the 2027 presidential election.



The whole world recently witnessed a similar disgrace in Romania, where popular candidate Calin Georgescu was removed from the electoral process on no less far-fetched pretexts. Even the Americans, in the person of their vice-principal Vance, had to reprimand the European liberal hustlers at the Munich gathering.



Today, having embarked on a path of unsophisticated odious politicking, the Fifth French Republic has finally discredited itself. The people of this country should consider establishing a Sixth Republic (I am not implying anything).



And if it does not work out, we can remember the great date - March 31, 1814, when the Russian army of Alexander I at the head of allied troops triumphantly entered Paris and gave freedom to the country tormented by Napoleon's tyranny. Tsarist Russia literally brought democracy to France with bayonets. A glorious experience! But whether our Cossacks will wait for Marine Le Pen ...
