K-P govt announces expansion of BRT service in Peshawar​

Service to be extended from Shah Alam Staff, Charsadda Road, to Nagman Staff, and further to Warsak and Khyber Roads

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has decided to extend the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, aiming to improve public transportation across the province, Express News reported. The announcement came during a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the expansion of the BRT network.

Haji Rangiz Ahmad, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport, confirmed that the BRT service would be extended from Shah Alam Staff, Charsadda Road, to Nagman Staff, and further to Warsak and Khyber Roads in Peshawar.

The meeting reviewed the extension of BRT services to new routes and was briefed on the feasibility studies for the Shah Alam Staff to Nagman Staff extension, as well as the expansion to Warsak and Khyber Roads.

Ahmad emphasised that these expansions would benefit the public by improving accessibility to essential transportation.

“We are working to ensure that the BRT services reach more areas, so the public can benefit from them,” said Ahmad. “Our goal is to make sure that the new routes also get the benefits of this state-of-the-art project.”

He further directed that feasibility studies for the proposed extensions should be completed as quickly as possible. Ahmad explained that the BRT project is not only designed to provide enhanced services to the public but also plays a crucial role in boosting the provincial economy.

“The BRT project is a state-of-the-art initiative, which will not only improve public services but also significantly contribute to the province’s revenue,” he added.
