Not the 'root cause' but no politician has ever squandered so much mindlessly as Imran did in the months before and after the NCM vote in April 2022. You may think there was some long term grand vision in the choices he made but there were none--as time as proven. All my understanding of him boils down to two words: Arrogance and Stupidity.

I in no way think he had some long grand vision (BTW, aap log hi us ka long term vision hamain bechtay thay, Faiz COAS for 10 years, shaitan as President, what not...and in the end we got Asim Munir for 10 years!)

I was discussing this exact thing with someone the other day.

IMO at that time, there was sufficient internal dissent against Musharraf, and Kayani had a role to play there too. Right now the ISI is too aligned, and so is the senior cadre (for the most part).
