Thank Gen Zia for the laws he made that makes going free after causing a death, as well all the other arcane laws that have been added or amended since that time, to be enforced as an when needed.

That is the Pakistani way of justice.
It doesn't matter. People in the past have done so many wrong things. The issue is that the current establishment is using the same script. If the current lot were just, it would modify those laws. So, the current setup (Zia's descendants) is as corrupt as Zia was.

This crap is still going on?

I thought we were done with the sham cases, guess not.

Is there a third sequel in store as well? Which Lt Col is writing the script for that, and who is gonna star in it? Surely not that same Mian Dawood chap...wakeel to koi naya dhoond lo.

A bloody corrupt couple sentenced in the second corruption case. These crooks not only stole the extremely precious items but also resorted to forgery to show the extremely low price of those items.

This is the reality of this crook who was declared as 'sadiq and Ameen' by a few equally corrupted judges a few years ago.

Let's hope those goons (disguised as judges) too will be brought to face justice.

Yeah, build public trust at the cost of rule of law and by sanctioning/approving the serious crimes of a sick-minded criminal couple.

No one in civilized societies can even ask for such shameful favors.

The former Supreme Court Justice Ch. Iftikhar in mid 2000s became very 'popular' and he was backed by almost all political parties, included the fledgling PTI of Imran Khan, with singular goal to topple President Musharraf. Well, they succeeded but now most Pakistanis concur that the the entire Judges Movement was political in nature and the esteemed Chief Justice was a fraud and caused immense losses to Pakistan's stability and economy. In fact, I dare say, Pakistan was derailed starting about 2007/8.

Benefits of the hindsight? Yes, but also a lesson that 'popularity' doesn't always mean the best thing for a country.

Even if the case against Imran was legit, there was no need for such cases. Plenty other potentially legit reasons to target Imran starting with his obvious violation of the Const. of Pakistan by throwing out the No Confidence Motion in 2022 and then his involvement in the May 9, 2023 Mutiny.
The Toshakana and the so-called 'Iddat' case as well as the Al Qadir Trust cases are a waste of time and take away credibility of the charges against Imran.
It seems the Pakistani state is too stupid and/or too lenient.

I agree. These cases are stupid, all others MPs emptied the Toshakana, the iddat case is disgusting one, Al Qadir is also weak one. The NCM, cypher and May 9th are the real cases but they're so serious they may not even be reversed. These others can be reversed via appeals. From all these May 9th is the most dangerous one, NCM was stopped by judges and it went ahead, Cypher was a copy, but May 9th Mutiny as alleged can have big consequences, especially if trial done through military court.

Maybe you and some others above, including @VCheng are right: Implicate Imran in less convincing / less damaging cases to give him a way out. Something to consider. I absolutely don't mind Imran sent to some Saroor Palace in Saudi Arabia for ten years with a good life, visitation rights by family but with a direct media gag.
My focus is on Pakistan to be stable, have focus and continuity of policies for the next at least 10 years.

I agree with you, totally.

These wrong-doings have been rife for over half a century already, and the current crew in charge is not only following the same script, but is refining it even further to perfection - witness the recent changes in the "law".

Therefore, I would suggest that the current setup is even worse than Zia's time.

Just because my opinion of IK is very different than yours, does not mean that I should give the military a pass for its illegalities, nor does it mean that I do not agree with you just because of a different opinion about IK.

We agree on who the real villain is here. Please never forget that.

I agree with you on these things. The problem is that using the justice system like a handmaiden is not conducive to any of those goals, and that practice remains abused regularly, starting with Bhutto's hanging.

Ah yes...the wet dream of everyone fauji in Islamabad straight outta B-mess!

Remember how noble Gen Zia's used to sound while he was laying the foundations to destroy civilian supremacy in Pakistan? Or how noble jihad was in Afghanistan? And so on till today. It was all for Islam of course. And nashnull sekortee.

I would have liked your post, were it not for the fact that mental derangement runs through ALL camps in Pakistan these days.

I can say a sentence about each one of them, but I think I am hated enough already. :D
