  • Azma Bokhari blames PTI for using teargas shelling on police.
  • "You cannot use public resources for vandalism," she says.
  • PTI has always worked against Pakistan’s development: minister.

Following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s insistence on holding a rally at Islamabad’s D-Chowk today despite Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s warning against it, Punjab Minister for Information Azma Bokhari on Friday said the party was a not a political party and it should be treated as a terrorist entity.

"The [PTI] is not a political party," Bokhari said during an interview on Geo News programme 'Geo Pakistan'.

To a query, the information minister said she heard the interior minister last day and she believed he would not let the PTI supporters enter the federal capital.

Naqvi on Thursday warned the PTI against holding the public gathering as visits of foreign dignitaries were planned in Islamabad, including the Malaysian prime minister.

Amid its anti-government campaign, the former ruling party — founded by Imran Khan — is holding protests for the “independence” of the judiciary and the release of the former prime minister from jail.

The protest will coincide with the final day of the Malaysian prime minister’s visit to Pakistan and the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit . The authorities have already enforced Section 144 and “the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024”, regulating holding of public assemblies at certain places in Islamabad.

“The PTI’s top leadership should review its protest call […] No one will be allowed for an onrush on Islamabad,” the security czar said while addressing a presser along with officials of the federal police.

Meanwhile, the provincial information minister the PTI had always worked against Pakistan’s development.

"The country is progressing and inflation is dropping, but they cannot sit with peace," she said.

She blamed PTI of using teargas shelling on police officials during last protest, adding that they would not have been stopped if they held peaceful protest. But they came for creating anarchy, she maintained.

“The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should ask them why they did not do work. You cannot use public resources for vandalism,” she said.

On the other hand, she said Punjab was peaceful and people were busy in their daily routine works. Since the Punjab chief minister was doing her job, the residents of the province had no interest in participating in the demonstration, she added.

The main opposition party PTI has expressed the fear that some of its lawmakers may have been ‘won over’ by the government, which has been making attempts to shore up support for a controversial constitutional amendment, which seeks to bring about widespread reforms in the judiciary.

In a background briefing on Thursday, party officials claimed that they had “lost confidence” in seven of their lawmakers in the National Assembly, and were taking steps to ensure that they would not change their loyalties.

In addition, the party claimed that it was in contact with at least two MNAs from the ruling coalition, who had given assurances they would stay away from the NA sitting whenever the constitutional amendment is tabled for passage.

When asked by journalists how the party could oppose the constitutional amendment in the wake of the Supreme Court order on Article 63A, which gives lawmakers some leeway to vote ‘according to their conscience’, PTI leaders said that the majority of their legislators would remain loyal.

“Those who think that Imran Khan will leave the country or … compromise on his principles, are living in a fool’s paradise,” they said.

“We have decided that our legislators will not attend any session of parliament until Oct 25,” PTI leaders said.

However, the party leaders explained that there were seven legislators who, they felt, may not bear the pressure.

Of them, five have been shifted to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while one is said to be out of the country. The whereabouts of one of the MNAs, however, remains unknown to the party.

“PTI legislators cannot imagine changing their loyalty because of the pressure of the workers,” the leaders claimed, saying that even Mubarak Zeb, who was elected as an independent MNA from a newly merged district, would support the PTI.

“Although it is next to impossible that Imran Khan would start supporting PPP, even he will not be able to change the already announced policy, because workers will not listen. The founding chairman has trained people for well over two decades, so it will take decades to undo the change,” they said.

They also expressed the fear that after curtailing the power of the judiciary and opposition, the powers that be would come after the media to render it “completely toothless”.

They also predicted that even the PPP and PML-N could be sidelined in the future, with religious parties being brought into the mainstream.

Senator Vawda says PTI is engaged in "politics of corpses," targets Imran Khan and PTI's K-P leadership

Senator Faisal Vawda has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of seeking to promote violence and "politics of corpses."

Vawda, during a press conference in Islamabad, launched a direct attack on the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, alleging that he is pushing a dangerous political agenda aimed at inciting violence in the country.

Vawda stated that PTI now thrives on chaos, stating, "The party needs corpses for its political game."

He further accused Imran Khan of abandoning Pakistan in favour of foreign interests and called on him to bring his children to the country.

"Imran Khan is trapped in this game and serving foreign powers," Vawda added.

The senator, a former PTI member, also criticised the leadership in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, stating that corruption is rampant in the province.

"Gandapur is misleading the nation and playing as a pawn," Vawda remarked.

He went on to criticise the PTI’s close ties with former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed, stating, "PTI has made Faiz Hameed its father."

Vawda also stressed the need for the judiciary to play its role, while pointing out the deteriorating governance in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, accusing Chief Minister Gandapur of corruption.

He concluded his remarks by stating that electricity and petrol prices in Pakistan would soon decrease, but continued to focus on the broader criticism of PTI’s leadership, highlighting the violence associated with its politics.

Previously, in a speech during a Senate session, Vawda criticised Ali Amin Gandapur, stating, “Come to Punjab, Sindh, or Balochistan, and you will be sent back as Miss Gandapur. You will be laid down if you dare to come.”

Vawda further accused the PTI leadership of pleading with the establishment to engage with them.

He also linked PTI figures Murad Saeed, General Faiz, and the party's founder to journalist Arshad Sharif’s death, claiming they knew in advance of the incident.

"You killed an innocent man, Arshad Sharif, for your dirty politics," he said.

Vawda concluded, “Be patient. This is just the beginning. These people are abusing institutions, and the government is weak to stop them.”

PS Mr Varda he also called PDM incompetent... are you going to take that lying down?..

This tout needs to be told in private to shut his gob or else...

People of Pakistan are dealing with thugs in civilians elites and in GHQ and there is only one way they are to be dealt with. Pakistan needs Bangladesh++ which mean cleansing of GHQ.

The way he acts, it seems fauj has some deep secret of this tout. The way he acts is extremely senseless, every second falls from grace.

whatever wrongs PTI did in its era, it is facing them itself.

Similarly, whatever the current government is doing, a few years from now, it will be on the receiving end.

Ultimately, Pakistan suffers

Any updates on: Imran Khan’s Whereabouts Unknown Amidst Alarming Reports of Torture and Poisoning

You had us ALL worried sick - since no News Media (including the pro-PTI) didn't report such an event.

But just so that you know, the entire PTI Leadership did visit Maulana (Fazal ur Rehman) today - again. The irony..., PTI spent the last decade calling him 'Diesel' and now they're at his door step, practically every day.

13 Votes can do that to a (political) Party.
