CM Punjab Announces Cancer Hospital in Every Division of Province
By Arooj Fatima | Published Sep 18, 2026 | 6:51 pmPunjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced plans to establish cancer treatment hospitals in every division of the province, with all facilities expected to become operational within 12 months.
Speaking at the inauguration of electric buses in Multan, the chief minister said the Punjab government is developing major healthcare facilities, including cardiology and cancer hospitals, which will also provide treatment to patients from other provinces.
She said 100 cancer patients have fully recovered after undergoing treatment with a coablation machine in Lahore. According to the chief minister, the treatment costs between Rs. 1.6 million and Rs. 2.8 million per patient and is completed within 60 minutes.
CM Maryam Nawaz also said that 100 million people received free medical treatment last year, while millions are being provided medicines at their doorsteps. She added that poor patients will receive free treatment at the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology.
Highlighting spending on development projects, the chief minister said the provincial government has allocated Rs. 300 billion to the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program, Rs. 500 billion to Suthra Punjab, and Rs. 200 billion each for green buses and hospitals.
She further said that Punjab is building what she described as the world’s largest cancer hospital.
