But this 'lining up for visas' thing is overdone. For the vast majority of eligible Indians, it’s a fairly straightforward process. Yes, many ineligible people also try hard, but I don’t blame them either, everyone looks for opportunity, and the salary gap with the West makes it attractive.

I already have my B1/B2. Funny part is I didn’t even get it to travel to the US. A valid US visa makes travel easier for Indian passport holders to several other countries with visa free entry or visa on arrival options. So no temple waiting list needed here.

I’m not disowning anyone. I’m saying India is changing. My own father used to walk 8 km to save bus fare. My family itself is an example of social mobility, and that story is happening across India at different levels.
