Ranked: The World’s Most and Least Free Countries

But the ranking is not about safety, better QoL (quality of life) or better government regulations & social services.

Technically you are more free in the streets of Delhi than you are in a highly regulated European capital where just about anything could lead to a traffic ticket.

Whether that much freedom is better or not is an entirely different topic altogether.

Regardless I stick to my point that such rankings on freedom have inherent biases and are highly subjective.
It is clearly stated what is being measured is the "freedom to participate in politics, own property, and live under fair and predictable laws. ", not the freedom to kill whoever you want or take a dump wherever you want. Unrestricted freedom for everyone to do what they want just means living like animals under the rule of the jungle. You could argue that subjectively wild animals enjoy more freedom than humans, but civilzed societies don't aspire for that kind of freedom.

Listing China with the failed states of Africa is typical Western Sinophobia
How can China be considered less free than the likes of North Korea or Saudi Arabia, where even members of the ruling family don't enjoy protection from the whims of the ruling prince ?

Honestly this system is outdated and basically incorrect.

Example a country can´t be the free world and not globalists the two things can´t be separated.

The true free world in my opinion has nothing to do with politics but it is where Migrants can find new life or let me put it this way? it is where Immigrants view as a place where they can start a new life which means both Taiwan and South Korea fall short of this, if foreigners see your country as a place they can´t start a new life then it is not a land for the free aka not free world.

Lativa and Estonia including Lithunia fall of this list and in fact all of East Europe falls of the list of being labelled a free country.

The country must truly be globalized area where you and your family, where ever you are in the world can view this country as somewhere you can start a new life and when you think about this it limits the number of countries.

You will only find such countries in the western and Muslim worlds plus Thailand and Singapore besides not all of them but few of them.

USA - Meets the criteria indeed - they are Globalists check, freedom for all check and foreigners can and have started new lives check and it is viewed as a land where foreigners can start a new life check.

Other countries that meet the criteria..

In Europe - Asia - Foreign population by country

- Sweden; 2,272,158
- Denmark; 847,475
- UK; 11,845,479
- Norway: 1,012,404
- Germany: 17,750,084
- Belgium: 2,349,032
- Netherlands: 2,956,518

- Switzerland: 2,503,840
- Austria: 2,327,064
- Spain: 9,510,527
- Portugal: 1,127,184
- Italy: 6,553,671
- Australia: 8,111,404
- New Zealand:1,467,989
- Canada: 8,805,839
- USA - Foreign: 52,375,047
- Finland: 514,432

These 18 Western nations meet the criteria but all of Eastern Europe doesn´t meet the criteria.

In Asia only handful of Countries meet the criteria

- Malaysia: 9,072,800
- UAE: 8,157,000
- KSA; 13,683,841
- Qatar: 2,337,000

- Maldives: 75,099

its all relative.......THERE IS NO FREEDOM in Reality when you're dependent on factors beyond your control......you need a job to survive/money/roof/food/basics, etc. Then you have your city/state/province/country breathing down your necks and they all want their taxes from you......

freedom? Try not paying the property tax or other taxes, see what happens to the so-called 'freedom'. It may be a shocker.

You will be free when you die and enter your grave. Well even then the judgement will start then based on what u did. So to buy the ultimate freedom in afterlife, do good here and be a good guy and have faith.

Good Luck!
I read somewhere that a group of Americans went off grid to live on their own without anything to do with state but government tracked and make them pay taxes even when they did not utilize any state services.

China would never be so successful if China practises west ideology.

Every country should work out a proper model for them. This stupid copy from the west democratic model like many do from Thailand to Philippines to India to Pakistan is a dead end. They are forever a colony to the west.
Endless brainwashing from least to most freedom ranking is worthless for hundreds millions people without food.

It's very very subjective though.. in Denmark you'd get arrested for possessing a firearm, whereas in Yemen you could sport a gun anywhere on the street and no one's gonna bat an eyelid.

In Sweden you MUST pay taxes that are almost half your income.. in Eritrea no one cares if you paid your taxes.

One could argue that these developed countries have stronger laws, better regulations and higher taxes to keep people safe and provide better life, but then again the ranking is about freedom and not about better governance.
Law and order and freedom can go together. Saudi Arabia has strong laws but no freedom. Sweden has both strong laws and freedom.
