New Geely Atlas will get all-wheel drive in Russia

New Geely Atlas will get all-wheel drive in Russia

The new-generation Geely Atlas crossover has so far been offered in the Russian market only with front-wheel drive. As the portal "Chinese cars" writes with reference to its sources, in the summer of 2024 the new "Atlas" will have a long-awaited all-wheel drive modification. Official dealers are already placing orders for the production of such version. At the same time in China itself, where the model under the local name Boyue L was presented two years ago, the all-wheel drive is not offered to buyers.
All-wheel drive Geely Atlas will receive a 2-litre turbo engine and 8-speed classic "automatic", which are already familiar on models Tugella and Monjaro. The question of power is still open. For example, for "Tugella" two variants are available: 200 and 238 hp. Most likely, all-wheel drive Atlas will receive a 200-horsepower unit. Recall that the crossovers with front-wheel drive, which are sold in Russia officially, the output is exactly the same.
It is worth noting that for the last six months, Geely has actively undertaken to update and expand the model range in Russia. Following the new generation of Atlas, a 7-seat crossover Okavango was released. And in summer, in addition to all-wheel drive Atlas, another novelty is expected - business sedan Preface. In addition, according to "China Cars", Atlas Pro crossovers should soon change its name to Belgee X70, and the sedan Emgrand will turn into Belgee S50.
At the end of four months of 2024, Geely's sales in our country grew 2.5 times to 47743 cars. As a result, Geely took the third place in sales among all carmakers in Russia, and the market share of the brand was 10.2% against 7.7% a year earlier. This is reported by experts of "AUTOSTAT" agency with reference to the data of JSC "PPK "* and taking into account its own segmentation.

Experts have identified the reasons for the slowdown in truck sales growth

Experts have identified the reasons for the slowdown in truck sales growth

Last year, Russian truck market began to recover, increasing by 71%, but in the first four months of 2024, sales growth in this segment was only 5%. On the eve of conference "ComAuto - 2024", which AUTOSTAT agency will hold in Moscow on 29 May in the framework of International Exhibition of Commercial Vehicles and Technologies "COMvex", its speakers and industry participants told what are the future prospects of the truck market in Russia.
According to Viktor Pushkarev, deputy head of analytics department of AUTOSTAT agency, last year the heavy truck segment has already significantly surpassed the "pre-sanctions" level of 2018 - 2019, and a noticeable decline should be expected this year due to the "oversaturation" of the market in 2023. It is already evident that the shares of the departed manufacturers have been taken by companies from China, and they are most successful in the medium and heavy truck segments. They have not only replaced "Big Seven" brands, but are also very serious competitors to Russian brands (GAZ, KAMAZ and Ural), which are largely engaged in the fulfilment of high-priority government orders. The problem of deficit in the Russian market of commercial vehicles is exactly solved by the offers of Chinese manufacturers.
"According to our forecasts and the current trend, 100 - 120 thousand trucks will be sold in 2024 (this is the second record figure after the result of 2023), which is significantly higher than the pre-crisis level: in 2021, the market volume of heavy trucks was 79.1 thousand vehicles. Tractors will remain the main segment of heavy truck market with a share of around 50%. In 2024, there will be no more pent-up demand, so the market volume will depend on cargo turnover, as well as the need to replace obsolete and retired vehicles for various reasons," comments Rinat Fatykhov, General Director of BWG.
In turn, Vadim Zeifert, Regional Director for Central Federal District of Sinoway Group, predicts that in 2024 the Russian market of heavy trucks will shrink by 25 - 30% in compare with last year. The fact is that the demand in the segment of heavy trucks (it accounts for up to 80% in the structure of total demand), has already been realized at the end of 2023 at the expense of equipment from Chinese manufacturers.

Evolute i-JOY crossover will receive a domestically developed battery

Evolute i-JOY crossover will receive a domestically developed battery

Motorinvest has started testing the traction battery developed by the company "Autonomous Energy Systems" (part of Itelma Group), which is intended for the Evolute i-JOY crossover. Thus, for the first time in the Russian market of electric vehicles, a model with a traction battery of domestic development will be presented. The newest Russian battery is characterized by increased capacity, which will provide Evolute i-JOY with a greater range, the press service of Motorinvest reports.
The battery developed by SAE is characterized by increased capacity. Its capacity will be more than 60 kWh, which is almost 10 kWh more than the current version of the battery of the serial crossover. As a result, Evolute i-JOY's total autonomous mileage will be increased by 20 per cent to 480 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. The battery under test utilizes a host of domestically developed science-intensive components, from temperature control systems to control units and telematics. The battery is designed to meet the Russian road and climate conditions. It has a fast charge function and is resistant to precipitation, temperature fluctuations and dust.
The battery is equipped with a patented cooling system - extruded heat exchanger. The new technology allows the electric car to be used effectively at extreme frosts up to -40 degrees Celsius. Special attention was also paid to fire safety. To confirm 100% safety, it is planned to carry out all necessary field tests, including short circuit, over-discharge and over-charging, and combustion resistance. Once the laboratory and road tests are completed, the SAE batteries will be installed on the Evolute i-Joy. According to Anton Mukhin, General Director of Autonomous Energy Systems, the company has managed to significantly improve the consumer properties of i-JOY, bringing it closer to the top electric cars recognized worldwide.

It has become known when LCV market will return to the pre-sanctions level

df3b78fb-670-0.jpg

Last year, Russian market of light commercial vehicles began to recover, increasing by 20%, and at the end of four months of 2024, sales growth in this segment was 38%. According to Viktor Pushkarev, deputy head of analytics department of AUTOSTAT agency, growth is expected in 2024 in the LCV segment, which this year has the opportunity to reach the "pre-sanctions" level of 2018 - 2019.
The majority of light commercial vehicles in Russia are purchased through leasing and credit, which is also incentivized by manufacturers. And the current level of market rates on leasing and credit leads to stagnation of sales and hinders further development of the market. If we talk about the forecast for LCV market as a whole, we believe that the level of growth will remain at the current level - provided there are no critical changes in the economy.
According to our estimates, the total LCV market in Russia in 2024 will reach the mark of 100 thousand cars", - says Marat Sharapov, Sales and Marketing Director of Sollers.

2d3c2dc3-670-0.jpg

Russian Government's Commission on Legislative Activity has approved Cabinet's amendments to the law on taxis, which stipulate that taxi cars will not be subject to a point system for assessing localization.
At the same time, the regions will be able to set the minimum share of taxi vehicles to be produced in Russia or another EAEU state (in addition to Russia, this includes Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan). These requirements will also apply to electric cars, writes the newspaper "Vedomosti".
As it is noted, fixing the regulations in the legislation will lead to additional stimulation of demand for domestic cars on the part of taxi industry. Earlier the bill on localization of taxi cars was supported by the president of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov. According to him, most economy class taxis in small cities already use domestic cars or localized foreign cars.
In countries that have their own car industry, it is customary to use their own cars as taxis, and the existing taxi network should not depend on imported cars and spare parts, emphasized the head of AVTOVAZ.
