As for the premium segment, the share of Chinese cars increased from 60% in June 2023 to 80% in May and June 2024. The most popular brands in the mass segment in the first summer month were LADA (34,199 vehicles, +43.8%), Haval (15,210 vehicles, +83.7%) and Chery (13,577 vehicles, +34.7%). Geely (11,088 vehicles, +60.6%) is in fourth position, while Changan (10,071 vehicles, 2.9 times growth) is in fifth position. In the premium segment, four representatives of Chinese brands are in the top five.
The first place went to EXEED (3,542 vehicles, +15.6%), the second place went to TANK (2,295 vehicles, 2.2-fold growth), the third position went to Lixiang (1,042 vehicles, 10.2-fold growth). BMW (699 vehicles, -18%) and Voyah (511 vehicles, +27.1%) were also in the top 5. In terms of market structure by owner type, the share of legal entities increased from 16% in May 2024 to 18% in June. A year ago, in June 2023, the figure was 23%.
The share of individuals correspondingly decreased from 84% in May to 82% in June this year. A year ago, the share of "individuals" was 77%. By body type, "station wagons" are still leading. Their share in June 2024 equaled the figures of a year ago and amounted to 67%, while in May station wagons accounted for 65% of the passenger car market. The share of sedans in the market in June 2024 amounted to 20% (in May it was 22%, in June 2023 - 18%). In third place by popularity were hatchbacks. In May and June 2024 their share amounted to 10%, a year before it was 11%. Gasoline engines continue to prevail in the Russian market of new passenger cars, this is traditional, their share in June exceeded 95% (a year ago it was 93%). But the share of diesel and electric versions became less in compare with the previous year. The share of diesel a year ago was 3.5%, in June 2024 the market recorded only 1% of such cars.
